If you guys recalled, Leon Best started horridly with us. they kept claiming he was the best finisher in training, but could not prove it on the pitch, until we were hit with some injuries and he duly stepped up.

Riviere seems to me is in a similar situation. He has been so horrible to watch up till now.

Will Riviere do a Leon Best-like turn around?

Is anyone claiming Riviere is any good on the training pitch? And how did Leon Best "turn (it) around"? He scored one or two then was sold to Blackburn.

Riviere just hasn't shown anything. Monaco let him go for a reason - i.e., he isn't very good.

    Honestly don't rate the bloke.
I'd honestly have Shola over him.

He is Carp. I mean really Carp. We paid close to £7 million for him and he has scored no league goals. Lets be honest we are not creating many chances for the fowards but Cisse has managed to score a few goals.

He is a poor mans Best.

Nevermind, he's a Graham Carr 'discovery' so will come good [if you believe some of the ****e that some of our fans spout.]

I liked Best. He scored more than "one or two" goals. Regularly got praise for his attitude scored a hat-trick against West Ham in what, I think, was his first Prem start that season and often got the only goal in tight games. Without him as good back-up we'd have been more stuffed when we sold Carroll. He then hit it off with Ba (was a good foil for him) and got side-lined when we signed Cisse.

I liked Best. I don't like Riviere. Best never looked lazy or disinterested (that I noticed).

Best always worked hard, made the defenders think and often created something.
    Riviere is just clueless.

A mate in the boozer tha neet, said.. listen you long dicked sexy bastard (okay I'm not a bastard).... it's like saying you pay a decorator to paint all of the rooms in your mansion and you get home, pay him and find out he's been sleeping with the maid and not actually doing ANY work.
A striker who scores zero goals is like the painter.

    but without the maid.

Monaco must have been laughing. Another one of Graham Carr's discoveries. He's really picking up gems isn't he?
