Sunday our competitive season starts with the Community Shield against Man City. The Community Shield is a must win IMO. If we win, and win convincingly it'll send out a message to all of the other teams challenging for the title. What team do you expect to see start on Sunday? I imagine it will be something like this Lindegaard Fabio Ferdinand Vidic Evra Nani Carrick Anderson Park Rooney Berbatov Subs: De Gea Owen Young Smalling Giggs Welbeck Evans
Ferguson claims Cleverley could start which means I believe Cleverley could start. It seems he has been prefered to Carrick in pre season and he has said this is still a friendly so I think he will start alongside Anderson. Young on the left, Nani on the right. Rooney up front and one of Berbatov or Welbeck partnering him up front. Not particularly confident about this one as I feel City will be really up for it. People making their debuts in the Community Shield always seem to start well and I think all the hype will be surrounding Aguero so expect him to score..
I agree, because we're playing against City I think we'll take it a bit more seriously to keep our "noisy" neighbors quiet. Someone posted on an other thread in the last 5 years everytime we won the community shield we went on to win the title. We didn't win in 09/10 and we didn't win the league.
I can't stand Mancini so would find it hard to cheer them on even against you lot. A good manager in charge and City will be a real threat but while he's there they will just challenge top 4.
Errr...China... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/14373045.stm Not exactly news - his agent said about two weeks ago that nothing would be sorted out until after the Italian Super Cup. Which is probably why SAF said he definitely wouldn't be bringing anyone else in before the CS.
