Do you guys feel there is a problem in communication on this site to the "powers that be" ?

The subject has been raised at Moderator level as one or two people have tried to get responses to PMs from Mick and others.

The answer has come back that with 12,000 members there is no way on earth that Mick can respond to members' PMs on a realistic basis. There are over 60 Moderators and so even dealing with queries from them would be a time consuming task.

I personally am not sure there is much of a problem - the Site could never deal with all the ideas and suggestions that 12,000 members could make so unless an issue has a sufficient following then I think we have to accept that we all have ideas but without fairly mass support that is where they need to stay - personal ideas.

One suggestion is that if someone has an issue they raise it to one or more of our 3 Mods in a PM or start a thread on it. If it seems that idea / issue has real support we will take it on to the Moderators Board where Mods from other clubs may already have solved the issue etc. If on there it proves to be an issue or an idea that has mass support (like dual club Match Threads) then it will come to the attention of Mick, Syd etc.

I don't think that the Mods are here to simply act as a post box to push all ideas forwards. We need to act for a "consensus" of our members - otherwisw we may be seen to be pushing an idea that actually the Watford Baord does not even agree with.

    Thoughts / comments ?

Well phrased Leo thank you for saving me the bother of finishing my version of the above!!(yours is much better):)
I would like to add that if you did send in an idea .would you like a response to that idea? positive or negative ,briefly saying thanks and why any decision was reached! or would you be happy that your idea is in the system and not require any feedback!

    Thanks for your thoughts

I think feedback is essential, it will let the contributor know if he/she is going in the right direction with their article.

Leo, I would prefer to run problems through you if that's ok?

Like for example I started a thread yesterday about the Borehamwood draw and mentioned that players need to be beefed up and suggested they use a product like Maximuscle, but then I notice a "shopping link has been added" by a company called Skimlinks. Who is Skimlinks and who is making money out of them? Because someone is making money, and I just want things to be above board and honest.

Sorry to be such a pain!

    Leo your on mate!

Elixir I am assuming you hadnt logged on when you saw the adverts! As usually the ads go away when logged in ,
Failing that find Toby he has a useful programme that reduces the amount of ads you see whilst on the net!

Nobody likes to be ignored. Even a brief, maybe standard message to say thank you, we'll consider your idea, even that would be better than nothing. Too many nothings give people the wrong, and negative impression of the site that seems to be all about the people who post on it. If they're the people that matter to the site, then the site should look after them by responding even to the smallest messages. After all, i'm sure 12000 people don't message all day, every day.

H I don't think you realise how many people (that aren't as fortunate to be as intelligent as us lot) post on this forum. Mick must get 100s of PMs every day asking for so-and-so to be banned or why is there a password to the NSFW section...

He also works full time and travels a lot, don't take it personally, Mick always tries to listen to any ideas that are put forwards to him.

That's just my opinion though, I do understand how annoying it is not to be heard, but you do need to realise how much work it would be to sift through all those PMs and answer them?

Then he needs someone who can acknowledge them. If he can see they're spam messages, there's no reason to answer them, but genuine suggestions from interested posters shouldn't be ignored. Maybe he should start a suggestion box, so that people can comment on other folks' ideas. If the site has become too big for him to cope, he perhaps has to consider what he is going to do about it, so that he doesn't lose the very people he wanted to attract. Just my opinion.

H I fully understand where you're coming from, but if you've explored the site a bit, you must realise how lucky us Watford lot are to have such an amazing group of posters.

Have you been on the Newcastle board? The Arsenal Board?

There are so many cretins on this site that it would be impossible to sort the good ideas from the bad (unless they're passed through the mods). I'm sure Mick would be happy for any user feedback that was helpful...

Please don't take this the wrong way, I'm only trying to clarify Mick's position :) x

I understand Toby and yes, i've seen some of those people dotted about the place, but they're so busy posting banality, i can't imagine they'd be bothered sending messages to Mick, though obviously i wouldn't know. I find it strange that everyone knows so much about Mick, yet he's too busy to send messages! How does that work? lol x

Mick pops on to General Chat from time to time and has a quick chat. I don't know him that well, I just got the impression that he's very busy...

I'm only defending him because I've encountered a lot of people that have a slug-like IQ on this site, and trust me they do PM him a lot, he's mentioned it before.

I'm sure you had some good ideas, next time I see him on GC I'll pass a message on <hug>
