Shafted by your own barrister, wow just wow

Glad he's not in custody anymore BUT people (including the elderly) need to understand its not ok to have a loaded weapon in public, regardless of the age of the gun.

I was driving down the Horsford Holt Road at Aylsham few years ago & an old boy heading north in a pickup stopped without getting out picked up a shotgun and fired it out of the passenger window into a field.

    Scared the crap outta me.

I just can't believe your reaction. This old guy had been tormented by kids - feel sorry for him for that - so he kept a loaded shotgun with him. What for? To give the kids an antiques lecture on firearms? No. He carried it to scare them off with all the possible fatal consequences that entailed. Imagine the accused was a 25yo black man who came up with the same excuse - a different reaction I assume!! Germany is still locking up 90yo war criminals - quite rightly - and we are still locking up 80yo kiddie fiddlers for offences committed 40 years ago - again quite rightly. This old fool could have badly injured or killed somebody and should have stayed in prison as punishment and as a warning to others.

Sorry, but the way I see it, he is either compos mentis thus knew what he was doing (was wrong) and thus should face the consequences, or if he wasn't (due to age or whatever) then he should not have the gun anyway! As he was deemed fit to stand trial then he should remain in custody - that would be justice, ignorance is no excuse. Hard I know, but with good reason.

I think it's crazy that an 88 year old guy can be put in prison for 2 years for having a firearm that won't even discharge a round.

When you see what people get away with these days it's crazy. I watch these police programmes sometimes and see guys who have criminal past on drugs or alcohol having a police chase and almost killing people and causing **** loads of damage to get a 2 year suspended sentence.

You think its right that this guy should get 2 years straight up? Never been in trouble before. Yeah right.

Sorry!! How could he use it to shoot vermin if it didn't work? On top of that other firearms were removed so he is hardly Mr Innocent is he?

This is why I love Norfolk. Go in to the country every man and his dog has a shotgun and this is the extent of the crimes that occurs from it. Yeah it's not ok to drive around with it loaded but anywhere else with so many guns would have far higher murder rates.

And with out it we would have my favourite chant ever.

We shoot burglars!! Say we shoot burglars!!

The barrister over exaggerated the guns ability to fire.
