Right boys and girls, this post is for information, not saying what’s right or wrong just what I’m told.

The reason for it is we are getting posts about Newcastle fans, Bruce. Titus and what’s wrong with our board. Every week I get PM’s from Sunderland fans who have concerns, they don’t want or like to make a big thing out of it so message me.

I spend a fair bit of time talking to them and just want to give you genuine concerns they have. They all come from good members, maybe not prolific posters but good fans who enjoy the forum and enjoy reading it.

3 things come through that put them off and in some cases force them to think of leaving, think of using the forum less or in some cases have made them leave.

My purpose in posting this is to let you know the genuine concerns and to see if you can help us mods in how to make things better.

    Concerns are,

    1. Abuse to other fans and each other, not people against swearing or passion just aimless abuse for no reason.

    2. Threads being disrupted by Newcastle fans, a hard one IMO to solve.

    3. The Bib and Bob arguments from both sides.

All IMO could be solved simply by everyone talking a little more responsibility of what they write and what they say. If you want us mods to delete obvious wum comments that’s easy, stopping all debate, IMO is not that easy or indeed needed.

Please lets see if we can debate without adding to the problem, I really would like your ideas and help.

I think your doing a decent job but i must admit some of the post put on by mags are obviously to wind us up

the other thing that upsets me on here is all the negativity yet when i go to the away games everyone is positive and behind bruce the majority of the time

Like I say mitch, if deleting the wums helps we will do it. What we have tried in the past is to either wum back at the wums or just ignore.

I just try and counter the negs with some positive.

The mags can keep posting their drivel and I will continue offer nothing but abuse and do it with much with relish. Or they can offer a considered debate and will be treated accordingly.

We have had a bit of in fighting recently but thats never altogether a bad thing, as it stops the forum form becomming boring, as to be honest BBC606 did become for me at the end. Unbelivably harsh and uncalled for moderation on the slightest of issues would often spoil that site altogether.

You will never keep all of the people happy all of the time Syd but so long as you do so for the majority, then it will be fine.

1: Delete the offending posts by both sets of fans, leave the ones that want to discuss it.

2: If its a Wum then delete it, if its a one with a little bit of bias leave it (most are biased but its to be expected)

3: Dont care until the team start playing positively, together and get some points on the board, and Bruce puts round pegs in round holes, we will always get it, so not much you can do about it.

Can I just say I'm not saying any of the complaints are right or wrong, just letting you see them.

Were we this sensitive in Jan when we some of us came here?

Try being on rtg/smb.....its far worse for bitching...

Just seems some of the fun has gone, but a few results will sort that and the skunks will scurry away again....

Its not just the mags to blame here though!

Agree with Commachio. I'm saying right now that I will not wum anymore, and any posts on your board will be genuine. If i receive large amounts of abuse (not just from one or two nut jobs) then I will take that as a sign that all you are here for is to cause aguments and not have football debate. Seems fair enough to me, I'm sure the majority of Newcastle fans would be happy to do the same

As an absolutely honest opinion here and in no way and attempt at WUMing I think this is a bit of a shame.

If Newcastle were doing crap, I would fully expect Sunderland fans to come over to our board and give us a hard time. It's natural, and I would mainly just ignore those posters, as it's all just there to wind people up.

But just 'cos you've hit hard times and are getting some stick back, I thinks it's a really strange one to suddenly put a ban on a bit of stick and banter just cos you don't like it?! It's part of what the local rivalry is about!!

Totally agree on abusive posts though, there's no place for swearing unnecessarily and name calling etc if it's not even funny or with reason.

I know you'll all probably disagree and say this is an example of what you're talking about but I'm being genuinely honest here. Either that or I just have very different opinions of what a forum that caters for all fans should be about.

Demba we have been taking stick for years and it has never bothered me. i have only occasionally visited your board well maybe once or twice. there is some docile barcode on nearly everyone of our threads.

What pisses me off is your high and mighty attitude and some of you think your already in Europe.

Well i still think we will finish above you, you have had the rub of the green so far

There are some things that fans would like to genuinely discuss without some ****ing barcode tosser coming in with stupid comments

1] If we can't tell who's wumming we need to wise up a bit.

2] As long as the piss-taking is done with humour and is not just sneering, it's fine with me. Works both ways (e.g. the mags still have Alan Smith :))

3] Most mags are here for the banter to be fair. Those that are on the wum can be told to bugger off or ignored easily enough.

What about this as a solution.

Both sets of lads know i converse open;y with the Mag lads, and i make no apologies for it, and i will continue to do so, HOWEVER, as a moderator for the Sunderland board, the Sunderland fans are my priority, i'm sure the Mags appreciate this.

If a Sunderland lad wants to start a thread, and wants it to remain Mag free, similar to what we do with 'off topic' threads, put 'Mag free' in brackets, Syd, myself, Comm and Dorset will auto delete any Mag comments, we will do this whether they are antagonistic or not.

The Mag lads will be made aware of this, and they will be welcome onto unmarked threads, as per normal.

As i say, i like the banter and i take the ****, cos our time will come and i'll be giving it, but this way, we can have a bit of a 'haven' for us SAFC lads.

    Thoughts?

I say again that these are messages I get and agree or not they are genuine concerns. Its easy to find the problems but I'm trying to find the solutions. IMHO the above post by Cheik is a genuine attempt at a solution so I say thank you.

Remember what we all said about this forum, banning and deleting are easy to do and we wanted a new way.

I am neither a BIB nor a BOB!
Do I voice my dissatisfaction with our managers tactical nous?
    Yes!
Do I question whether Bruce is the man to take us forward?
    Yes!
Do I question certain players attitude and lack of skill and commitment?
    Yes!
Why do I do that here?
Because it is a ****ing football forum, where even when things are going well, I would still have good old fashioned arguments about players and tactics.

The small minority that are the most vocal BIB's, abuse and call fellow Mackem's names!
I don't see the BOB's abusing these posters in the same way.
They blame everyone including the fans, for anything that goes wrong at SAFC rather than the man causing the actual problems. Going so far as to say the dissatisfied fans would be at fault for any bad Sunderland result or league position. (It's the players responsibility to get the crowd up not the other way round.)
These same posters then post their opinion about certain players that shouldn't be on the pitch or are rubbish.
But seemingly that is valid as they are right in whatever they say and isn't being negative!
Ah the new word buzz word NEGATIVE!
There has been very little at SAFC lately to post anything positive.

    Lot's of double standards.

Complaining of people moaning, then starting numerous threads moaning about anyone questioning what is happening at our great club.

Argue and stand your ground about your beliefs, just stop the bitching and sniping against fellow Mackem's.
Someone having a different opinion to yourself doesn't make them an IDIOT, BAD SUPPORTER or told to not expect better for SAFC. ( I do want and expect better for SAFC!)
Or worse still told to go and be a glory hunter elsewhere!

It's the same faces all the time who join threads with the sole intent of abusing either the OP or someone else in the thread. ( If it upsets you that much why join the thread? Just ignore it! )

Apart from that all's well here. :p

Worth a try for now, why not....

I myself will not use it, being of a less sensitive nature, but maybe some who make the effort to do a thread deserve to have it un-interupted...

So i'm for this at the moment..It's a start at least.

    Aye,

You know me Comm, i'm like you, and the craic don't bother me, but i reckon this is a good way for the lads who'd rather not get involved with the Mags to still enjoy the board.

Anyone else think this works, in the short time?

I like the "Mag Free" thread idea. <ok>

    Probably wouldn't use it myself.
But I have seen numerous good SAFC threads disrupted by the likes of Chappedarse being the highest poster in the thread repeating the same thing ad-infinitum! (Just in case he hadn't got his same snidey comments into every other thread on our board.)

To be honest Syd, I can see what people are complaining about but everyone should man up a bit. (or women up, I am sure there are some women on here too).

Ignore the wums and engage the mags who are here for genuine conversation and good natured banter. Sticks and stones.

As for those of us who rise to the bate and post abuse back, I say grow up, its not the school play ground and you always end up looking just as bad as them.

Modding these boards is an impossible job, I know I used to moderate a music forum and that was impossible because unlike football where you win and lose music is completely subjective. Lets give the mods a break and stop the abuse from our side, that will show the mags we are above it. The good mags will stay and discuss football with us, the WUMS will disappear and Syd will get more time to walk Oscar and buy him sausage and chips.

As for the in fighting, its what the forum is all about, if we all agreed all the time this place would be boring. I disagree with Cest all the time, sometimes I find myself shouting at the screen when I read some of hus posts, but I think he is a top bloke and I would love to meet him for a pint to discuss our beloved SAFC.
