To help while away a freezing, rainy, football-less winter's night, anyone got any favourite commentator gaffes?

Harry Carpenter was a rich source - my favourite of his was:

'Ah, isn't that nice - the wife of the Cambridge president is kissing the cox of the Oxford crew,' said on the Beeb after the Boat Race in 1977.

And on lap 72 out of 71, Damon Hill leads...

    This is lap 54 - after that it's 55, 56, 57, 58...

Well, we now have exactly the same situation as at the beginning of the race, only exactly opposite.

Unless I'm very much mistaken... I am very much mistaken.

Brundle is doing better in the main commentator role than I thought he would.

He's no Murray Walker of course, but he's streets ahead of the pretenders of the last decade.
