Nice performance from the lads. Looked a lot better when James came on but we didn't really get going in the 4-5-1 we played today. King should have been closer to Nuge and we needed to exploit their lack of width better because they couldn't handle the wingers when we did get them in space. I didn't hear the QPR fans once, they were so quiet in a game where they have a lot to play for still. Schmeichel 8 - Looked good from set pieces. He's been working on them, you can tell. De Laet - 7 - Looked very assured. Didn't get beaten. Morgan - 7 - Won his headers, looked comfortable on the ball. Wasyl - 8 - Some very good blocks and headers. Maiga is still in his pocket. Jeff - 6 - Didn't attack well enough for my liking. Hope his injury isn't as bad as it seemed. Mahrez - 8 - Assou-Ekotto is rumoured to be in the QPR dressing room suffering from dizzyness. Turned him inside out and got him sent off. Should have had a penalty. Drinkwater - 9 - Confident, assured, stylish... the Drinkwater we've come to know and love. Awesome pass for the goal. King - 7 - Good in patches, needed to push on more. Hamond - 6 - Did a good job on Krancjar although he didn't need to work hard. Knocky - 6 - Didn't work for him today, Gary O'Neil was up his backside whenever he got the ball. Nuge - 8 - Excellent finish for the goal. Reminicent of Vardy's versus QPR in the away fixture. James - 7 - Settled the game. Dyer - 6 - Didn't do much. Moore - 6 - Had nothing to do.
Indeed it was all very comfortable for us today and we never needed to be anywhere near our best to win against a very average QPR team that offer little to no threat up front I wonder if Assou Ekotto has pulled his pants up yet from Mahrez giving him the runaround lol. Think he got sent off on purpose to avoid further embarrassment.
We got quite the slating on sky. We were more confident and assured than the away game, but we went there with a plan and executed it. We out did them again today despite doing our hardest to give away goals. Knocky looked like he did when he first arrived. Trying to run through everyone. Mahrez has a touch of Daniel sturridge from last year. Do all the hard work and then go for glory when better options are available.
I thought our passing was toss for the 1st hour. Always passing to Dennis the menace or if it did reach a city shirt the player had to run like **** to get to it. Still, yeah, we looked comfortable most of the game & going against what I´ve just writen, what a ****ing pass for DN... oh & a ****ing good finish aswell. "UTF"
I see the DQPR (we have a god given right to have won this league) fans are crying foul calling us lucky, cheaters, divers and that we will be fodder next season. Geez no wonder there team is gash with fans like them.
Leave them alone TMF, how would you like it if you´ve got a bunch of money grabbing average players who can´t play together & you´ve done crap & have to try & do it in the P.O´s ? Talk about salt in the wound, you should be ashamed. Tut, tut
Drinkwater and Mahrez our stand out performers ... but we really did improve as a cohesive unit when Matty James came on ... haven't seen the replay but the challenge on Mahrez at the end looked a stonewall penalty ... hope Jeff Schlupp is OK ... looked in some discomfort ... for the dramas thought Krancjar had a very good first half ...
He clipped his foot which hit his other. As well as having a handful of his shirt. Penalty every day of the week for me.
It was a pretty awful game really, both teams looked like they weren't even really thinking about it. Livened up after the goal, and the one move of any quality won the game; Nugent does score some lovely goals!
They were so confident they decided they didn't need the likes of Ji-Sung Park, Granero, Mbia, Taarabt and Remy and let them have loan adventures at top flight clubs until they returned to the Prem, while presumably still paying part of their wages too. I dread to think what will happen to QPR if the don't win the play-offs. Where are Portsmouth these days?
