  2. Joins an ever growing list of managers that have returned for a second go. Not many are as successful the second time around, can Mourinho break the trend?

IMO, yes. Chelsea are my tip for the title. Especially with both Manchester clubs changing manager too.

I like Mourinho, but I hope that this time his bubble bursts, but I can't see it happening, & I too will be backing them for the title.

I agree mate, I think Chelsea will be the team to beat! They have a top Squad if he brings in a top Striker they should do it.

More importantly, who's he going to engage in mind games with no Benitez or Fergie this time round?

Heard on the news that Mourinho wants to build a winning team this time and not go out to buy another set of trophies <laugh>

Hope he fails with them, Chelsea deserve nothing. But unfortunately, there's alot of quality in that team and I think they'll do well.

I'm over the moon that he's come back home! Already there is a new feel about the place! Simply buzzing especially for the first away game which will be nuts. I'm sure every other rival of us though is gutted!

Doesn't that amount to the same thing? They have the money to get whoever they want at whatever cost and will do just that, which = buying a trophy.

Pity Suarez might be off as Maureen may have taken the heat off him from the press for a while.

Nice to hear... Epitomise why we have a rivalry nowadays... But it doesn't matter if we win all trophies next season because you have won 18 league titles and your history is all that matters. Oh the replay of the Carling Cup final is on tonight on Sky when we met in Cardiff... I highly reccommend it <ok>

Nothing personal, I used to like Chelsea pre Roman. I just detest money clubs who buy trophies rather than earning or working hard for them; City, PSG, Monaco, Malaga, Anzhi and Chelsea.

I can't stand United, but I can at least respect the way they built themselves up.

No idea why you bring up history...it's got nothing to do with anything I'm talking about nor relevant to the thead.

Building as in, bring through current youth players and not splurging 100mill a season on players.

Well we won the league back in 1955 so we're all good there then! We may have the money but what do you expect? A billionaire to come into a club and then for us not to spend it!? Yes.... We have been very fortunate with Roman and his money is much appreciated but before he came in we were a Champions League side and would soon be challenging for the title. Imo Roman has just sped up the process.

I'm not saying I expected him to come in and not spend. That's the entire purpose of his purchase of the club. But I would much rather he didn't come to Chelsea and they built themselves up slowly in a similar vein to United, Arsenal or Spuds. I can respect their progress much more because it's a hard and long road.

It's like if you spent your entire life working hard and building up a business so that you can finally afford a huge mansion...only for someone to buy a similar house next door having inherited a fortune from a relative and bought it without really earning it. No doubt they'll still enjoy it, but it's not the same as earning it. Not even close. And they certainly wouldn't get as much respect for getting there the quick and easy way. Weird analogy, but that's how I feel about these money clubs.

  18. All I'm going to point out is that it was you that brought up history, not us <ok>

  19. I'm sort of inbetween here. I don't like how Chelsea have gone about buying trophies since Roman arrived but I agree with BB that if it is there then why not spend it.

I think a medium would have been better. Spend money on a few top players but develop youngsters and a strategy for the long term too. TBH, its not the spending I dislike most, its the lack of loyalty to their managers. IMO, had they put a manager in and stuck with him for ten years they would be on the same level as Bayern, Barca and Real by now. You cannot underestimate sustainability.

Sorry, my mistake. I wonder how many youth players he can bring through in one season - or do we think he will last longer than that
