Great bloke!

"When I was a young teenager I was going to stop playing football, I could no longer afford it. I was offered a place with (Argentinos Juniors), but I would have to go to another city 800 kilometres away. It was near Buenos Aires. I said I will have to finish football because my mum must work. I cannot go to Buenos Aires to play – I can’t afford it. The manager (Maddoni) said ‘OK, OK’. But he never forgot me and two months later I got a call from him – he said you will have to travel every Saturday and Sunday to Buenos Aires to play then you can come back to study. It was a way to do it.

I said I couldn’t afford to pay the travel and he said ‘I will pay for everything’. He paid for travel, lunch and dinner for me. Two years later he said to me, ‘move over to Buenos Aires. I will pay for an apartment and for your family to live here too.’ It was incredible. He is a brilliant coach but a brilliant man too. I say thank you every day for what he did for me."

Clearly where the idea for Goal came from <laugh>

what a refreshing story in these times of spoilt footballers and their at times ridiculous behaviours to find such a genuine guy. he's our captain and I'm very proud to have him !
