There's a growing feeling on Twitter that Pards is in for Colo now.
If true we should insist they buy Obertan too.

Given the wages he is on and the fact that he is a shadow of the player he was a couple of years back I'd accept a half decent bid in a shot IF (a big if) I thought we were getting a CB in. I can accept Haidara/ Dummet at left back under duress if we had a strong centre back pairing, for me that would mean not having colo in the team now anyway - its up to what McLaren thinks he can get out of him. If he wants to keep him I'll trust he can get another 12-24 months of premiership football out of him otherwise get rid and chuck in a Matip/Lascalles partnership (some real hope of a signing there....)

If that happened I would be utterly sickened. He can go back to Argentina with my blessing but another Premier League team especially them would really piss me off and I really do mean it would **** me off royally.

Not massively against if we are going to get two quality centre backs in. Ideally we'd have him, Lascelles and Dummett as back up. I feel we are desperate for 2 CB's and 1 LB. Haidara and Dummett are very similar quality wise, each with enough deficiencies to make them not of the required quality. Both ok as back up but that's all.

i just kind of resent him heading to Palace. They are building a canny side and if he has an indian summer, he could help them. We are all scrambling to fight for a top 10 finish. However I still think Pards has his work cut out. That Palace squad was improved massively by Cabaye, but its still not mid table material.

Don't forget mate, the team are due to get Pardewed towards the end of the season. Once that bubble bursts they will be competing with the likes of Sunderland to stay in the division. ;)

That squad isn't good enough to do anything else but fight to stay in the division. Yes Sir Pards had them in top 6 form playing out of their skins, but remember they were flirting with 20th position when he arrived. There has to be a reason for that. Cabaye is one man. If they 2 or 3 more of that quality then fair enough, but they are in for a tough season.

So yes he may Pardew them (i.e. get a poor team performing way above expectations) but there is only so much he can do.

Cabaye is injury prone, wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if he picks up a knock and is out for a chunk of there season.

Personally I've always felt Pardew was such a mediocre manager he HAD to start head butting people to stay relevant. If Pardew is given time I do believe Palace will degrade drastically, Pards is a good man manager, but he lacks the ability to develop a backroom team which keeps players improving & fit, he has clearly got his own anger issues, and his tactics (like most managers) result in the repeat of the same formation even if it doesn't work.

Sounds like one man who won't be arriving is Matip.

Schalke 04 defender Joel Matip – who was on Newcastle’s shortlist – has announced he is staying in the Bundesliga.

He said: “I am at home and can imagine playing here for a long time.”

“I have one more year on my contract, which is for footballers always a long time, but I am confident that we can agree more.”

Jose Enrique has been left out of Liverpools squad...

I doubt he'd be allowed back after his comments on leaving though. 29 too and injury problems. Can anyone think of a left back?

Indeed. I'm sure Mikey has 100m sitting doing nowt too.

Seriously though I can't think of many top left backs available. We're going to be relying on Dummett continuing his improvement under the last regime and Haidara learning to control a football <laugh> Honestly if we got 2 CB's and a LB, I'd feel a lot more comfortable. We can't just expect McClaren to polish turd. He's a good coach with good staff, he doesn't however have a magic wand.

Enrique was a real waste. Great player. Seeing him rot on Liverpool's bench for years is repulsive. One of the many reasons why I despise them.

Colo is passed it but i still think if he wasnt surrounded by inadequacy he can have a good season or 2.

Palace are going to be better than us though.

Totally agree with this. If Colo leaves and we bring in a good defender, that said defender will still have to work with talentless ****s like Williamson and Saylor. In an ideal world we will bring in two quality CB's but we all know that won't happen.
