Also Mark Douglas on twitter who is one of the most level-headed North-East journo's is claiming the guy who wrote that piece is very well connected when it comes to Liverpool.

Need to get him a new contract, and fast!

I would be surprised if this happened.

We've got Carragher, Agger, Srktel and Coates in the centre-back department. We've also got some promising young players who could step up.

    I don't believe this.

I was thinking this, to be fair. You were reasonably happy before summer then went and bought Coates (how much was he?), would look pretty foolish if you went and bought another centre back who will shortly be on the wrong side of 30.

Coates was around £6M but is pretty young. Apart from the mistake for the Stoke goal yesterday, he looked solid and comfortable on the ball. Our defence isn't the problem. (I believe we have the joint 3rd best defence in the league) It's putting the ball in the net. We've created loads of chances but we can't finish teams off.

I think this story is nonsense to be honest.

    I believe it is Newcastle!

You've looked immense at the back. (Krul looks excellent!)

Yep :) Krul, S Taylor, Coloccini, Tiote, Cabaye have been the main performance defensively. R Taylor has got stuck in well and Simpson has done OK in some games, ****e in most though lol

    I sure hope you're right.

Just out of curiosity, would you be happy if you signed Collo? What do you think of him as a player?

Cabaye has been excellent for my fantasy team!

    :D

I quite like his hair! :p

But seriously, I haven't seen too much of him to be honest. Newcastle have been solid at the back this season and he has pretty consistent for a few seasons now.

He is 29 though and our owners are pushing towards younger players so that's another reason why I can't see this deal happening.

He's gone right off the boil and not the kind of player you'd want in your team.
