This had probably been done before but can't be arsed to look. In my opinion Kompany is the best CB in the league, however after him I can't think of anyone better than Colo. Vidic is still good but I think past his best, same goes for Terry. Vermaelen is very good as is Samba but I do not think they are as good as Colo. Cahill is decent but is overrated, Agger is again decent but again is not as good as Colo.

Seeing him come back at the weekend after just one game out reminded me just how awesome Colo is. Sure he might not be the strongest in the league or the best in the air, but his movement, positioning, reading of the game/antipation is just first class, not to mention his leadership skills. He has also got to be the most skillful CB in the league and I love it when he goes on charges up the field. :emoticon-0115-inlov

Not to mention he has got the best hair in the league as well. :)

So after Kompany is Colo the best CB back in the league?

Agree about Kompany, I'd say Vidic, Vermaelen, Ferdinand and maybe one or two more are better than Colo. None of them have their own ice cream though, and that's all that really matters. <ok>

Coloccini is unbelievable. I love it when he embarrasses defenders with his poise and skill.

Vermaelens up there but i really don't rate many of the rest so yeh

apart from King, but he doesn't count because he doesn't have knees and you need knees to count in this poll

I know it was quality. He always seems to play the right ball as well, and is very cool headed.

I really rate Koscielny nowadays. Still getting judged off his first year a bit like Colo but i think he is up there as well. Colo is up there but i am not sure tbh

He's fantastic, could have been a winger if he was a yard or two quicker. I wish the bit of skill he did was on MOTD.

I think Colo just edges out Vermaelen. King is also up there but he's never fit and it's hard to say that he's the best if he never plays a full season. Ferdinand, Terry and Vidic are all well past-it for me despite being, on the whole, still very good players.

Definitely King in my opinion , shame he's so injury prone though.

    Fantastic defender.

I wanted to pick the Verminator, but i think Vidic is probably better. Colo is a good CB, but not 2nd best. He does have the best hair though.

<ok> Many of the top strikers say that he is the hardest defender they have ever played against because he is so good without being rough or dirty. Shame about his injury woes though, far better than Rio and Terry have eber dreamt in an England shirt.

Vidic and Vermaelen are probably better, even though Vidic is starting to lose his pace a little bit. King as well, barring injury.

Vermaelen is my favourite non Newcastle CB and the 2nd best for me
    Vidic 3rd
Samba (big fish in small pond) - 4th
    Colo - 5th

I'd probably agree with this. Maybe throw King and Jones into the mix, Colo would be about 5th or 6th for me <ok>

I think it's always difficult to tell who the best CB is in the league, as if they have a quality partner (Colo-Taylor, Vidic-Ferdinand), then they tend to look solid. Saying that, Colo was quality yesterday with Perch playing...

I do not think you can really class King as the 2nd best CB in the league because he is just injured all the time. If he was not so injury prone then he would be right up there but if you are not able to play the majority of the games then that is a critical thing that is lacking in your game; not actually being able to play most of the time.

Vermaelen, I like watching Arsenal and when he's fit he is a tank, sweet left foot as well.

Haha I think that little run got the biggest cheer of the game! And of course it was followed by his song.

Collo is immense. I honestly think he could play any position comfortably, even goalkeeper. Does anyone else remember when we had a free-kick yesterday and somebody kicked it back quite hard, but Collo managed to throw himself on the floor and block it with his left hand? What a guy.
