how would we feel if he were retained next year? It's a Q I've asked myself and I'm not sure. He has Championship experience and at that level would not look out of place. The problem is his attitude tho.
But as a squad player he may do a job. The only problem is we don't want a squad player on £80,000 per week.
he should be put to pastures new! Would rather keep Colo on a 5 year contract then keep Saylor. Saylor could hardly walk in his last game!
The lad knows the club though. He is someone who, ability aside you would want him in the trenches with you.
I know the club well but he is not even League 2 standard. Might as well bring Shola back then as well!
Colo and Saylor are yesterday's men. The future is Lascelles and Mbemba. Colo won't want to go as he is getting so much money for doing sod all. Saylor is just woeful and a perennial crock. I don't want to hear about experience and Geordie Boy etc. Neither have contributed fook all for seasons now. Both need gone, there is no room for sentiment if we are to move onwards and upwards.
It wont be as simple as some think to move him on. With his form, age and injury problems this season, I'd be surprised if any club would be willing to pay a fee for him. His current contract is for 16/17 + 1 year option on top, so it could cost the club a tidy sum - £6m+ to pay him off. Can see him still being here next season.
Nothing boiled my piss more this season (including relegation) than when I heard the news that Coloccini had been given a new contract. Whoever made that decision (if they are still at the club) should be sacked instantly for gross incompetence. Getting rid of him will be one hell of a job and if we do find a club for him it will almost certainly need to be a loan deal with us paying three quarters of his wages. If he stays he must absolutely be stripped of the captaincy and seen as a reserve CB only.
Colo wanted away a few years ago and this might still be the case. He has one year left and might be open to an early termination settlement. I don't think he wants to be here regardless of the money. I also don't believe he is on 80k a week. The contract trigger extension may have renegotiated a lower wage I don't know. But I do think we need shot of him and saylor. Both who give nothing to the club.
Colo and Saylor have seen us relegated twice now. Time to move on. The future of the club is hungry young players or good solid 'workman like' players.............. not two **** ups that are waaaaaaay past their prime. Its a NO from me!!
I'd rather have had willo over Taylor and Colo in the championship. At least Willo was capable of coming in and doing a job when called upon. Taylor is just way past it already and Colo clearly threw a strep when the armband got taken from him.
When we went down in 2009 Colo really established himself as a great defender and a leader, those days are long gone now and he's a lazy arrogant ****, part of the old guard that needs to go if we are going to push on in any way. Now is the age of Laecelles, Colo's time has long since passed.
In my opinion, he needs to go, however if Rafa signs and wants to retain him then I will trust him. Colo cant be that much of a liability in the championship and if anything, he wont play too many games, but if he did leave it would free up some significant salary space.
