Wondering if any of us have any collections or make investments into a collection that you hope may boost a pension pot, or just give you a cash boost if needed?

I am a watch nerd so have a collection. I try to pick up vintage pieces that I think I can enhance value of. I also look for some real value in auctions and even car boots. I do buy new too, but mainly when I think they 1st releases will go on to be sought after. My wife goes mad at me. I even hide some.

Anybody else.

Keen on watches myself but don't consider them investments as such. They may go up or down long term, I just appreciate the watch regardless.

Football shirts. Some will say that it's sad for a grown man to own such things but there's a large community of blokes my age on Twitter collecting them so I don't give a ****. I like them as objects and as design items. I like obscure ones and have a handful of signed shirts and match worn ones from non-league clubs I've had a connection to. Don't see them as an investment, they're just something I enjoy, but I've got a few that would sell for a couple of hundred each on ebay.

Football programmes. Mainly just habit but have acquired a few old ones along the way that are worth a few quid. Pride of place in my collection is the one signed by Bobby Kerr.

Not really anything to boost my retirement fund but I started collecting vinyl records a few years ago. I try to get at least a couple a month and aim to buy limited editions. Certainly not worth loads, probably a couple of grand at the most currently but I don't think I'll ever sell them anyway!

One for the bairns to do as they please after I've gone to the big old stadium in the sky.

I kind of collect scale models, you know the plastic kit ones like Airfix etc.
Thing is, I devalue them by actually making the things!
Buy quite a few of Facebook marketplace, I've had quite a few bargains off there, some I buy new, some are bought as gifts.
Buy one and start it, then seem to accumulate another 3 or 4 before ive finished the one I'm on with. Finish it, start another, and accumulate another 3 or 4.....and so the cycle continues.
I've probably got about three or four hundred quids worth in my "stash"...I'll get round to them eventually.
Currently on with a Mercedes AMG, (maybe a week to go on that one), then a Tyrell 6 wheel F1 car.

I know someone in finance who has a loft full of Lego, all unopened and some very valuable pieces. Incredible investment if you have the means as it only goes up in value.

I wouldn't be able to resist building it!

I have a growing collection of Walkman cassette players, mainly Sony but I have a few Aiwa and Panasonic models waiting to be repaired, I still have a lot of music on vinyl, cassette tape, minidiscs and CDs. I enjoy the retro feel of choosing physical media and putting it in a machine to play it.
About 4 years ago I bought a few broken minidisc players, managed to fix them and sold them for a profit then started buying broken cassette walkman fixing them up and selling them. I have kept 'a few' nice ones and I'm always looking for a bargain. I have a few that are worth a hell of a lot more than I paid for them. :emoticon-0103-cool:
In the long term I'm not sure if these will be that sought after but there are some Sony models that suddenly increased in value because they featured in a Marvel movie, so you never know. But my missus reckons it's all a load of junk <laugh><laugh>

That sounds absolutely class mate. Seriously what a brilliant collection. I remember my first walkman with the little yellow earphones. Hanging on my belt jeans. Bloody amazing invention.

Watches are so amazing. I love the intricacies of them. They are real craftsmen pieces. I have a basic working knowledge so can renovate up to a point. I love doing it. But some watches are way too intricate.

Would love to hear about any favs you have if you are willing. I am a real a fan of some of the micro watch brands in the UK at the minute. They are making the big swiss brands take notice. I bought a watch from Pinion recently, limited to one of 5, and the build quality is fantastic. Plus I had a conversation with the brand owner before buying and he tweaked if for me even further, no questions. If you investigate the Japanese market too there are some stunning watches being produced in small batches.

It is really exciting at the minute in terms of new releases. Even big swiss brands are really innovating.

Was that a yellow Sports walkman - I have a few of those the wm-f75 is a good one
I also have a few collections that I inherited from my gran dad, some military badges and a load of old cigarette cards but I haven't added to those.

How many watches do you have, and how many does the missus think you have <laugh>

Honestly cant remember what the walkman was. Just that it was cool. We all had one. I laugh at old farts like me saying kids are too busy on phones to talk to each. Bloody hell, we walked around in groups with headphones on. Nowt has changed <laugh>

No comment on watch numbers. I do know folk with more than me, which is a crap defense. I do trade up in my defence. But in all honesty I do have more than is reasonable.

I still receive marketing emails from Pinion. Not bought one though.

Always liked the look of Schofield watches, but would have to travel to Sussex to see one in the flesh. Minase looks interesting for smaller Japanese brands, but again hard to find one to see in person.
On the richer side, did get to try on a Ressence watch. That was crazy, looked like a smart watch but totally mechanical.

For the 'big' names I prefer an Omega to a Rolex. Like yourself don't like overly complex. Really not a fan of skeleton watches, but appreciate a cashback exposing the mechanism!

Great stuff. I am not a Rolex fan personally, like you prefer others. I do have Tudor though, which is a beautiful watch. Of the big swiss brands Breitling is a fav of mine, and I am a bit of a sucker for old Longines watches. I have an open back moonphase and it is impressive to look at, but wouldnt want a skeleton either.

I am on the lookout for Minase watches too, but yet to find an accessible one. An Ordain another british brand I am hoping to add to the collection at some point.

Could talk watches all day.

Comic fan here, I have some Spiderman Marvel comics dating back to 1967, I also have a Bunty comic my aunt gave me from 1953. I have some that are worth a lot of money.
But, thanks to Marvel deciding Vloume 1 should end the prices went down.

If only I had an Amazing Fantasy #15 or Detective Comics #27 I would be rolling in it.

I think my whole collection is worth around 10,000+
