QPR are continuing with their excuses as Hughes has said that the appointment of Hodgson as England manager will have a huge impact on the relegation fight. Despite the fact that Hodgson is staying with West Brom until the rest of the season!
It can work either way really. They could raise their game and play with freedom to give him a good send-off but more often than not it goes the other way. I'm rarely one for conspiracies but it wouldn't surprise me if Phil Gartside's influence had something to do with the timing of it all.
I can't see how comments like this can help anyone! If the players get it in to their heads what he is saying and stop fighting then only Mark Hughes is to blame. As much as he might be deflecting his inability to gain enough points to avoid the drop (but they might just do it) it is plainly ridiculous to come out with nonsense before the games are played (nearly as ridiculous after as well).
Assuming it's not a journalist taking it out of context, I guess the aim is to rile the West Brom players into a performance if their heads weren't right.
I think it's rather pathetic to blame it all on Hodson if QPR are relegated! It's also a rather weak excuse.
If they don't beat Stoke later today, they're dead. If they do, I'd say they've got a slightly better than 50-50 chance of staying up.
