It was an honest comment and true but bad timing.

Unfortunately he has to apologise or get slated. Kirkland did go down like a big-girls blouse.

I don't know what the official definition of "assault" is... but if (back in my 30's) I'd phoned the old bill up to report someone who'd pushed me in the face, they'd have told me to "grow a pair"

They do go down like they've been hit by a truck, even refs do it, <Di Canio> but like Chesh says bad timing.

Kirkland should have stayed on his feet and flattened that ****ing idiot.

He made the comment honestly, without really thinking. That's what happens when youi are in front of the cameras immediately after a match and have not had chance to talk to someone else to get your story straight.

The same should be accepted by our fans of what Dave Jones said, iunstead of deflecting things so that he "deserves all he gets"

Glad he apologised, my initial reaction was that he went down and stayed down too easy (although not condoning what happened) it took a replay for me to realise it was quite a forceful push in the face with the palms of the hand.

I missed where Dave Jones apologised?

I am sure most of the ground are gunna enjoy abusing Jones at Elland Road. If he thinks calling us all vile animals is a good way of stopping the abuse he is very much mistaken

Great response guys. <ok> How to **** over LUFC true and proper, with knock-on effects for every LUFC fan. The old bill, the FA and the whole media is now going to be watching us like hawks, and you can't wait to abuse Dave Jones further.

What will stop you from being such ****ers?

How about when LUFC have to play games behind closed doors, like in the 80s? When our fans are banned or hugely restricted from away matches? When we get points deducted?

How about when you get a football hooligan ban because you have been caught on cctv chanting songs that are deemed as bad as racist chanting?

How about when it affects you getting a job because potential employers always check up on your facebook and twitter before choosing whether to employ someone, and one of the things they certainly don't want is a LUFC fan because of the image you provide?

**** me, some of you lot are so short-sighted

Biggest over reaction yet, remember when I accused you of scaremongering and you were bemused LOL

Because Dave Jones said it is? You like licking LUST arse, listen to the radio interview, LUST stated that our fans started chanting after being provoked by SW fans singing Turkish chants. Before your next reply don't confuse a thug running on the pitch to fans singing poor taste songs.

We support Leeds United - it is a football team we go to watch not attend some ****ing kindergarten - I don't agree with all the songs but I expect them, don't ****ing go to the games till it stops, I must advise you that it will mean NEVER going to watch a game again.

Elmo, you don't get it, do you? Jones abused you, me & ALL Leeds fans, based on the actions of a few. Understandable him getting carried away in the heat of the moment, but it's over now, and he's had the opportunity to apologise to all us innocents. He hasn't. That makes this vile animal very keen to abuse him. In an appropriate manner, of course. Perhaps you could write the lyrics?

You're right WJ, I don't get it. I don't care that this guy said this. It's irrelevant what he said. That's the point. There are people throughout the football world that hate LUFC, some for no reason whatsoever, but the reactions of people on here exacerbate that hatred.

It looks like an orchestrated attempt to shift blame and deflect, instead of looking inwards and changing ourselves.

If other people see us all as vile animals, some would say there is no smoke without fire. Isn't that the argument others are using against Jones?

Can't others on here see this?

I don't know, maybe I just look at things differently to a lot of you. I try to look for a solution where it is of benefit to us all as a group, as a fanbase, I don't automatically look for a target to hit with a big stick. Sometimes the solution is to keep one's big mouth shut (and maybe on here I should practice what I am preaching a little more) and take things on the chin, because ANY response is going to lead to wider and longer condemnation.

I do not see there is ANY benefit going to be afforded to LUFC by Leeds fans rounding even more on Dave Jones. I see a lot of bad **** coming our way by that happening.

I thought we had turned a corner with the Ipswich game. Those people were true scum on the pitch. But the whole crowd turned on them and told them they were scum, at a very very low point - we had just conceded a goal which would guarantee our relegation. That made me so proud to be a Leeds fan, we had finally come of age. And I also believe it is partly why we were let off so leniently.

What happened last night pulled apart much of the good that had been done since that day.

Deflecting the criticism onto some individual (and on here onto me) is a great way for people to shut out the real issue. IMO.

Clarkey - I see it as completely irrelevant. Read the post above - I don't care what he said. He's not LUFC, he's a manager of a different club that just let in a wonder goal but he was given a getout clause to make a statement because of a Leeds fan

But I don't really care. I stated in the first post after he said the stuff that I don't agree with what he said. But I can understand why he said it, given the context and the timing. I also wrote that I hoped he would apologise once the dust has settled. Maybe it has not, from his point of view, or maybe he will think "**** them, they are all vile animals".

My point is, I don't care what he said. He merely said the same thing that many other people say about us.

Irrelevant? you really Don't get it, do you? I personally believe that Jones should resign for his outburst. He's tarred us all with the same brush. Shocking. I hope the authorities do something about a rabid lunatic attacking innocents from a position of privelege. (Now where have I heard that before?).

I find it amazing that you are so consumed by your hate of me that you can't even accept my opinion that I understand why he said it, although I have always said I thought he was wrong to say it.

You and ristac and oneleeds have been frothing rabidly about him and taking it out on me, and you still refuse to accept someone else has a different opinion to you and could possibly see the context of it.

I feel really sorry for anyone that actually knows you ifthis is what you are like outside the virtual world. You refuse to acknowledge anything else is possible. You really are a complete prick - note I am using the same word you used in a different post against me

You offered me to come and see you personally in Wetherby a few months ago. Name the time and place, I'll take you up on it

Bit heavy Jock, I think we all acted after the event and I fully understand why Jones in particular felt angry. We all say and do things we regret and he maybe has this feeling now.

He could at least then apologise like Warnock did. However he allowed his comments to be repeated on the Wendies website and has so far shown no regret. I don't think he should be subjected to those kinds of chants but his comments were disgraceful.

Perhaps we have to be in his shoes to understand how he feels. I would agree an apology for generalising about Leeds supporters would be helpful, but if you take a bit of time to think how it must be for him to be subjected to the chants from ******s who have no idea what they are talking about, especially if his family are in attendance, then I would suggest his anger will linger for a long time.
Managers are human beings, they have feelings, like some supporters, they are not immune to feelings.
