All looking positive according to a report that's just been on SSN. I think if we managed to pull all 4 off then that would most probably be us done. Maybe a youngster loan in there as well for a bit more depth.

Even with those, I still think Bruce will spend a good few million on a 'marquee' signing. I have stood by that opinion since we signed Figueroa.

    All of them?

That's 3 strikers in one swoop.

    Surely not quite right?

Someone, somewhere said that Briand character turned us down?

    I dunno.

Reports from France have stated that Briand has turned us down. Carlton Cole is apparently in talks with Palace and we're waiting on Stoke to decide whether Palacios is available. Sagbo talks are ongoing, but I don't know if the fee was agreed. If SSN knows something I don't then fair play, but I suspect that it's all just media talk. Would I love all 4? Absolutely! Will it happen? Just can't see it.

Don't think all 4 will happen, especially not Briand, Sagbo and Cole together. That would be an overkill imo. Rather spend more on one player (which doesn't look like will happen).

I would be well happy if we signed Palacios and Cole.

    Briand - Staying put

£860k is probably a really good deal! Well worth the gamble.

We still need a marquee signing up front, i dont think that Graham, Sagbo and Aluko (aswell as the rest) will score enough goals to keep us up

Yeah, that's a great deal if it comes off. Leaves funds for a big signing somewhere else on the pitch, or to fund a move for Palacios.

Why do we need a marquee signing up front? If Sagbo signs, we'd have too many. Loads of strikers doesn't mean loads of goals, it just means more competition for places. I'd rather have a playmaking central midfielder come in than another striker.

We need goals, i dont think a strike force of Graham and Sagbo will score us the goals that we need to stay up

Jeez, Graham has shown he can score goals in the Prem. And how do you know Sagbo won't score? What do you want us to do? Sign a striker for £10m?

No, i just think that we could sign a player, like Crouch or Jones for a few million, who would guarantee us around 10 goals. If you look at it we have only added Graham and Sagbo to a strikeforce which was mediocre in the championship. Graham is a good signing, but i would rather bring in a more proven striker, who we would be able to get relatively cheaply, than take a risk on the unproven Sagbo

Both Crouch and Jones have scored less than 10 goals last season, 7 and 3 to be exact. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Crouch. But his wages will be far too high. We just can't afford him. And that's the problem, we are not a proven BPL-team, we can't splash out cash. It's easy to say: "Oh just buy a proven goal-scorer". They tend to be quite expensive, and if it's that easy, why doesn't every PL-club have a 20-goals a season striker?

We will have to take risks and use "unproven" strikes like Sagbo.

It's a nice theory, but even Cole and/or Crouch can't guarantee us goals. In any event they are both towards the end of their Premiership careers. I would love to have one or both here, but if Brucie reckons Graham and Sagbo have what it takes then I for one am prepared to trust in his judgement.

What I do like is the fact that he seems to be looking for a pairing, different types of striker who complement each other rather than mirroring each others skills. Graham seems to be the "club" and Sagbo the "rapier", which looks to me like it could work.

Interestingly the reports I have read this morning all seem to indicate that Sagbo is a done deal, but varying in value from £850k to £3.5m. Where do these tossers get their info from????

So where does Aluko fit into that? I pray he isn't pushed into one of the three midfielders.
