According to reports cole has turned down a lucrative move to spartak Moscow.

Great, would rather sit on his arse and pocket his £90000 a week.

I know it would be a big change going to Russia to play but what a saving on our wage bill it would have meant.

  2. That is a little harsh considering he fooked off to France for a year <doh>

Maybe he just doesn't fancy the club or league on offer? Or he truly meant he wanted to fight for a place at LFC and replenish his reputation...?

Russia is not the most attractive league in the world so dont blame him on that one not many British players would go to Russia.

Well look - 2 Russian teams in the CL this year, some top names at CSKA, Zenit and Spartak, Moscow is a very nice city providing you're not from Chechnya and the women - <whistle>. Yeah it's a bit far for an Englishman but if he really cared about his football and playing he'd take it.

It's not a bad career move, the Russian league isn't some MLS type Azerbeijani league. I highly doubt this is anything but a refusal to cut down on wages. He knows he's not getting playing time so why rot on the bench?

Glass legged Cole in Russia on astro turf pitches????

There's a difference in sauntering around Mild France, eating good food etc than having your old knees done in a cold and increasingly Nasty place.

I don't like Cole or think he's ever been a good idea.

But! I don't get this "he's a traitor to the cause" theme when he:

Won't take a pay cut from what we stupidly contracted him too.

Won't move to the ends of the earth because we don't want him anymore.

It is not his fault we took him in, signed an incredibly stupid deal that threw money at him for doing what he did for 3 years before we got him. Nothing.

My guess would be that he's still holding out on a move to West Ham.

I reckon he'd walk back to West Ham. He had a soft spot for them even when he played for us. Lamps hates them but Joe always loved them. He was a class act but not now.

Joe Cole doesn't even make the transfer rumours anymore.

The only reason Fat Frank doesn't like West Ham, is because they called him a bad name. They hurt his feelings, I wish some players i.e. Beckham, Rooney, Terry and Lampard would get over themselves. They do what they like, but when they get a little bit of stick from the crowd, they whine like babies. Rooney threw a strop when Everton fans told him the truth..they called him a fat bastard.

It was how they treated members of his family as well. The fans laughed at him when he was injured whilst playing for them so can't say I blame him. They're a **** club anyway so Frank was never going to stay.

That's so true. We as fans are so quick to call Judas when players don't honour contracts or live up to their word but we then question player motives when they hold firm on a contract when the club it trying to get rid.

There are many players that end up places that were not their own terms. Look at Charlie Adam, Stoke is a good move for him but 12 months ago when he was being talked of going to all sorts of clubs, I don't think he would have even considered Stoke. As much as he has not lived up to his end of the bargain, neither has the club.

Id actually love to go and experience living in Russia, but to be honest if I was a footballer, with a limited career left to play, I would have no interest at all
