Joe Cole ‘offered to QPR’ in Liverpool swap bid for Adel Taarabt
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish’s bid to make QPR star Adel Taarabt his first signing since taking over as permanent boss has been stepped up a notch with the news that he is prepared to offer marquee signing Joe Cole in part-exchange.

Taarabt lit up the Championship this season as he led Rangers to the title and a Premier League return, immediately sparking interest from a number of top clubs including Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea - as well as Liverpool.

The former Spurs youngster has been coy over his future in recent weeks, suggesting his head could be turned by a big-money move.

And Dalglish, who is determined to refresh the squad he inherited from former boss Roy Hodgson, has reportedly offered Rangers the option on playmaker Cole if they will allow talks between the Reds hierarchy and Taarabt’s agent.

Cole and his wife are said to be eager to return to London with their young family to be closer to their relations, having failed to settle on Merseyside since the 29-year-old made a free transfer switch from Chelsea 12 months ago.

The former England star’s exorbitant wages - believed to be in the region of £90,000 a week - could prove a huge stumbling block.

However, Liverpool’s new owners are prepared to splash out on new talent - and this eagerness to bring in top names could also see them do their best to facilitate the deal by offering Cole a lump-sum payoff to get him to accept reduced terms from QPR.

    Personally. No thanks.

Keep thinking the same thing Scotland... Cole's an overpaid no-mark who's done nowt for years.

Having said that, the best Rs teams (including the one that missed winning Division 1 / prem championship by one point) have always included seasoned veterans that came good again and achieved legend status at QPR.

There are many such examples but most outstanding for me was Tony Currie - kept me ever present at LR during his time. Just couldn't resist the chance of watching those silky skills of his week after week.

We all know how good Joe Cole was back in the day. Every chance he's still got it in there somewhere - but hardly got the opportunities to find form at Chelsea or Liverpool - and was rarely if ever played in his best position.

It's quite possible that Warnock's man management ability; a bit of regular Hoops magic and increasing crowd adoration could put him on a pedastal he's never managed to achieve to date.

Worth a swap for a potential QPR legend with itchy feet? If it worked out, Cole could be an Rs star for the next four or five years.

In my reconsidered opinion, it's certainly a risk worth pondering over.

In reality, Joe Cole would probably be a better bet than Taarabt next season. He is a proven Premier League player, is more consistent and would tackle back. Taarabt will disappear for huge chunks of games and at times be an incredible liability. He will probably cost us games with his recklessness. So, would I swap? No way. The spells of magic, nutmegs, dribbles and precise through balls are irresistible, and the time when he will make Rio Ferdinand or John Terry look stupid will be worth the world to me. What’s more, he is only going to get better. He is the player that defines our team, and I think, in reverse, our team helps define him. When I’m walking in from Shepherd’s Bush station it is him I want to see play well, Joe Cole, good as he is, would never give me the same feeling of hope and expectation. Adel Taarabt is QPR personified; unpredictable and exciting.

Having said what I did, there's nothing you've said roller, that I could possibly disagree with!

Id prefer Taraabt over Cole tbh, just purely as he has got so many tongues wagging and will hopefully burn some prem teams to ashes, and hes ours :)

Joe Cole, doesn't look fit to me not injuries.........stamina.
He's forever bent over with his hands on his waist, breathing out of his arse.

Cole is without doubt a quality player, & would be a fantastic addition to our squad. But, why would we consider parting with what is arguably our most talented player as we prepare for life in a higher league?

From what Adel said after the Leeds game, he has been told that he can go if a decent offer comes in from a major team. He has done his job and got us promoted, I want nothing more than him to stay, but if Real Madrid come in for him, who could blame him for going. Venables left us for Barcelona and we survived. Personally I think that Taarabt would be better off staying, but I'm not impartial.

if Adel is to leave i would prefer he went abroad and not to another Prem club, the thought of him coming back and tearing us to bits is not an option, Joe Cole has not had much of a chance at Liverpool but is more likely to end up at spurs than

This is crazy speculation. Dalglish wouldn't touch him.

Sums it up, if you added grossly overpaid.
