http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14106455.stm Well obviously he didnt impress in training or decided against staying here. so hes off to free fall club for a trail. shame seemed to be highly rated by people, oh well move on so who should we bring in/bring on trial next?
Who is that other keeper who is around on a free? Is it Dean Brill? Could he be worth a go? No offense to Flitney but I really feel we need extra cover back there to be safe. What happened to these Roy Carroll rumors?
Yeah it's Dean Brill. On his wikipedia page (I know it's not the most reliable) says he is due to fly out for a deal with Toronto FC, a new MLS team. Seems as though the Roy Carroll rumours were just that, rumours.
just had a look at the free transfer list. brill does look like a good option, carroll would be great but not sure if thats a bit of a drop for him but would be a good player to have around for flitney and hawes to learn from. might be a bit out of the league but how about kingston from blackpool, might be a bit of a drop but hes getting on a little and to me he's always been a very very good goalkeeper. i think that might be a bit of a wide mark? http://www.givemefootball.com/pfa-transfer-list?position=Goalkeeper&name=FullName&page=2
If we're going to go for kingston why don't we also try for Marcus Hahnemann? Seriously though, i think we'll be looking at keepers released fromt he lower two leagues and not any higher due to wage restrictions in my opinion..
Cole seems to be a good keeper but he wasn't exactly prolific for Barnet. Dean Brill did well here so he'd be my choice but if Plymouth are low on cash I think a cheeky bid for Romain Larrieu would be exactly what the doctor ordered. That said in order to keep Flitney happy about being first choice we need to sign a keeper of a similar level. I think Hawkes could make the step up, if he underperforms we sign an emergency keeper signing baddabing baddaboom.
Yeah, can't see Larrieu leaving argyle, he's got his testimonial next week...I agree with Hoadie as well, Hendon was probably a big part of why Cole came on trial. Brill would be great though, but I think Kingston/Carroll might be pushing it a bit... I would like to see a little more faith in Flitney though...
dont think its people not having faith in flitney in the most but people wanting another goalkeeper in to push him to perform. dont think hawkes is good enough to do this. having to fight for your starting point tend to make you want to play better and improve. in regrads to kingston and carroll we all thought brown would be out of our league and hess turned him down so who knows. lets be honest we thought whelpdale and lee were too
I don't know, Carrol had a trial or something for a coaching/playing role at barnet if his wikipedia page is true so i wouldnt class him in the same category as kingston who was playing for blackpool in the prem last season, i don't think hawkes is ready to play in our league yet but fair enough if they are going to give him a go, flitney could do with some competition in the dressing room though, in my opinion..
seeing as plymouth now havent paid their players for the 8th consecutive month surely there must be something there to make their players want to move. he even admits in the article that he has considered a move. maybe it would be good for all parties, we get a great goalkeeper, he gets paid and plymouth get some much needed money. just a thought http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14119417.stm
