View attachment 11358 vs It's another tuesday night game at the Valley and this time the oppenents for high flying Charlton Athletic come in the form of Colchester United. Saturday was a great day for the Addicks, not only did they snatch a last minute winner to sink Bournemouth but all other promotion rivals dropped points. Most notably Sheffield United who let a 2-0 lead slip at half time to lose 3-2 to Oldham at home!! It was also a good weekend for Colchester who ran out 3-0 winners against a Preston North End side who at the beggining of the season were tipped to return to the Championship at the first time of asking. Bradley Wright-Phillips was the man in form when this two sides met earlier in the season bagging a brace at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Both Charlton goals came in the first half and hour and it really could and should of been more. Charlton fully deserved to win on that evening having the majority of possession and creating several great goal scoring opportunities. Colchester currently lie in b place with 44 points from their 32 games this season. Since being relegated back to league 1 in 2008 they have never really managed to set the league alight and usually finish around midtable. That being said they do have some very good players at this level in the form of Anthony Wordsworth and Freddie Sears who they recently acquired on loan. Solly Morrison Taylor Wiggins Green Hollands Stephens Jackson Wright-Phillips Kermogant Subs Sullivan Cort Pritchard Haynes Wagstaff I would like to see what Haynes can do up top with Kermogant but Wright-Phillips looks like he's returning to his usual goal scoring self so there's no way he can be dropped. I'm going to go for 3-0 Wright-Phillips, Kermogant and Jackson
Customary excellent effort Belv. I'm going for a 2-0 win. We just might see a little bit of tinkering with the team just to give some tired legs a rest. We might see Haynes, Russell and possibly Waggy at some point during the evening. That said it will probably be the same team as usual to start unless Hamer is still crocked.
Fantastic Belv, I think you've definitely got the job mate . 4 or 5 nil - Its a game where we can score an early goal, relax and get a second before half-time, then run riot in front of the covered end in the second half - a game in which we express our true talents without the hang-ups of recent home games.
Reckon this one will be tougher than we think. Col u come to us off a good result at the weekend and may be capable of holding us back and nicking one on the break.
5 1 to the mighty Addicks BWP and Kermit 2 a piece and a Green screamer to wrap it up ...after goin behind early
Wow- a lot of confidence. Colu shouldn't be underestimated. A good side who, it's fair to say, have underachieved. 1-0
Superchrissy. Can but agree. They could surprise us but reckon it will be decided in our favour. Wordsworth, Gillespie and Sears could all cause problems and it may be a swansong for Izzet this season but he may want to prove a point against a former club. Still, we should still win this one.
Its an either/or situation. If we maintain the form we showed in the second half against St Evenage and the whipping of Chesterfield then I think we will win very comfortably. If we go back to being shyte but lucky (and there were signs on Saturday that we haven't exactly cast that shadow off yet) we could scrape it or draw.
Well, i thought **** it - i'm going tonight.!! Rang up Ticket Office and bought tix for tonight. Have to leave work early , but they've certainly had their pound of flesh recently. CAFC Player playing Palace commentary again! Having to listen to BBC Essex's commentary. This happens far too often for my liking.
