Colchester 0 Fulham Xl 1 (Friendly)

    The team was:

Rodàk; Grimmer, Trialist A, Burgess, Evans; Tunnicliffe, Hyndman (Smile 82'); Cole (Trialist B 72'), Dembele (O'Halloran 84'), Eisfeld; Smith

Unused subs: Dawber, Sheckleford, Casasola, Redford

”The Whites started off brightly, dominating early possession. Half chances fell for Dembélé and Emerson Hyndman, with the latter missing the post by a whisker after being played through by the former. Not to be deterred, Fulham kept pressing and on 28 minutes Thomas Eisfeld pounced on a back pass with his attempted chip being cleared off the line. The resulting corner lead to Cameron Burgess smashing a volley off the crossbar.

From then on, the Whites pressed harder and Jack Grimmer whipped in a superb right footed cross for Moussa Dembélé to powerfully head home past a despairing Elliot Parish. Soon after Eisfeld had a chance to double the lead and Fulham went into the break well on top.

The Whites began the second half as brightly as they ended the first, as scorching shot from Tunnicliffe skidded past the post. Colchester then stepped up a gear, with right midfielder Dion Sembie-Ferris threatening on a number of occasions. However, despite the continued pressure, Fulham held firm with Colchester failing to really trouble Marek Rodak in goal.

As the 90 drew closer, the Whites continued to hold firm as Rodak comfortably saved a one-on-one. Matt Smith then spurned a chance after robbing the centre back of possession. Overall a comfortable win for Fulham in the heart of Essex.”

Trialist A , playing at CB, was 19yr old Spaniard Ian Pino Soler. Currently with Catalan side Prat de Lluçanès. He also played in the match against Tooting & Mitcham.

Trialist B , playing in Midfield (although more recognised as a LB), was 18yr old Belgian Marco Weymans. Currently with PSV Eindhoven. Credited with this Puskas-like goal when playing for the Belgium U19 side:

Video highlights. Worth watching for a cracking goal and the flash kit:
