Sunderland Official Statement – June 2014:

“Jack is a player we have nurtured and developed through our academy system since he was eight years old.

“We gave him the opportunity to become a professional footballer and are therefore extremely disappointed in the events that have led to his departure from the club.

“This wasn’t about money – the club agreed to all of the terms demanded of us during discussions and we were always led to believe that Jack wanted to stay with us.

“At his and his representatives’ request, final talks were put on hold until the club secured its top flight status.

“To our dismay however, we were subsequently never given the chance to negotiate with him to stay.

“For him to then leave the club that has supported him throughout his formative years in such a manner, with no chance for Sunderland to recover any of the significant investment that it has made in him as a player, has left a bitter taste."

Can't say I'm keen. Ok backup but so are lots of other players that haven't left us to sign for Newcastle.

Never heard of anything, but I am not too keen after his words when he left. On the other hand the lad has something to prove and shove it to the Spanish waiter, so it might be worth a punt.

I'm the same except against my uncle because he's been a nasty, underhand, vindictive bastard all his life.
My dad stabbed him in the forehead with a set of darts when they were young men, lol.

Is it possible Billy that It was getting stabbed in the head that turned him into a nasty underhand vindictive bastard?

Agreed - don't want him back here.
He might be able to a job, but so can others

I always thought he was a poor man's Cattermole so if free maybe.
On second thoughts no no I'm sure we have better youngsters ready and waiting.
Sorry but he's burnt all bridges for me <steam>

Apparently on £40k a week at the mags. Nice to know they've got value for money for pinching him off us. Still a decent Champ player IMHO, but I'm pretty sure Coleman has his own plans.

No. I'm in disbelief anyone would consider it. Even if he was the last cm in the world I'd rather resurrect Jeff Whitley.

Apparently he was a **** from the moment he popped out my granny's snatch.
Both his brothers hated him & out of the three of them that ****er is the only one left.
I bet there's not half a dozen at his funeral when the nasty old **** finally pops his clogs.
    I certainly wont.

Seeing as fans still spend the game booing players who played a few games for their local rivals fifteen years ago, it'd be foolish to sign someone from Newcastle at a time that some unity and harmony is in danger of breaking out.

Add to that the fact he's bang average and I don't see the point. There's probably no truth in the rumour anyway but it's always nice to take the piss out of Colback.

Seen a few of these on facebook and twitter as well - people saying that but he hasn't played for about a season. What mental and physical state is he going to be in?

Anyhow - he can **** right off - want nothing to do with the little ginger ****er

I was a fan of his, and disappointed when he left, to be fair he always put a shift in, for what its worth I thought he was better than Catts, but no way should we take him back, we would be fools to even contemplate it. Not even a swap for Rodders would tempt me tbh

There isn’t a single possible reason on earth that this should even be a 1% consideration.
