Forest have come out this week to say they want to sign the Ginger Pirlo permanently this Summer. Their manager has, at the same time though said his £40k a week wages may be a stumbling block and encouraged Colback to put football before money. I'm not convinced he will do that. Why would he? Hopefully the club will let him go for free so Forest could almost give him any perceived wage gap in a signing on fee instead.
Funnily enough was having the very same conversation coming home from Wembley last night - let him go on a free and get shot of his wage.
He will return to Newcastle like a phoenix from the flames of the Championship. Colback & Mitrovic will be the best two players for the Toon next season. Guaranteed. ...or they'll both be sold. One or the other.
Hopefully we get shot, he must prefer playing regular games to being frozen out of our squad surely. He's not terrible, just not talented enough to play in the PL on a regular basis.
He won't agree to any deal if he's going to be £1m out of pocket. I would guess that was what happened last summer as there were interested parties. He'll want the full value of his contract and his loyalty bonus for not requesting a transfer. For footballers: Playing games < Money. None of us would be any different mind.
I don't mind if Colback stays, if he wants to. He may well be on wages above where his talent level actually sits, but that is the financial decision the club made at the beginning of the contract, so I'm not entirely interested what he's on. I see Dummett working his average socks off each week, out of position, and from what I saw of Jack, he'd do the same. Out of the two, if any of you said Dummett was the most talented, I'd be shocked. Given we will not be spending any serious money on addressing any of the areas we would all make priority, I think there's space for keeping hardworking players that bust a gut for the club, and developing their usefulness. As a caveat, I will add that my prediction for next season is that we'll start horrendously (exacerbated by lack of transfer market activity), and Dummett will be lynched by fans for not being good enough. It's all very well and good when we achieve safety, lauding the players who work hard for the shirt, but as soon as we struggle, we'll all be wielding torches, and running the rule over the squad, pointing and murmuring wildly at each individual, to assess their merit for the wickerman position. I love it!
I concur completely .......................... in fact i will join the lynch-mob as early as possible so that swing wildly between delusion, anger and apathy on a regular basis.
The Weekly Wickerman and The Warm Glow will become the mainstay threads of the forum ............................im in.
I'd be shocked if anyone said Dummett wasn't the more talented. You have seen Colback play, right? Defending, positioning, tackling, tracking, winning headers are all skills too. The only skill I've seen from Colback is passing sideways.
Dummett is a hoofer. Colback can pick a pass when he wants to, and is easily more technically competent in pretty much every department.
As the crab lord. He was the one who gave her the crabs. He feels vindicated at a pass the parcel party that lad.
