I only recently found out that the old "rub it on your gums and see if they go numb" method actually signifies that Novocaine is present and "pure coke" (if anyone's ever had anything like that) doesn't numb your gums. Apologies if this is wrong and apologies if it's common knowledge and I'm exposing myself as quite an irregular ching-heid.
On a side note, apparently Diet-Coke and other diet drinks contain a substance that rots Brain cells.
Cocaine should cause a tingling feeling. The reason that novocaine and lignocaine (closely related to cocaine as their name suggests) is to mimic the tingling feeling. Lignocaine is used in the injections dentists give. Once worked on a drug that bound free cocaine in the plasma. It was to be used in overdose. We had 99.6% pure cocaine which as any chemist will tell is as pure as it gets. Trouble was it was syntheisied so it was radioactive so there was definitely no snorting of that stuff.
