There must be a reason Wednesday pulled away... reckon he's probably asking a fair bit to effectively drop 2 divisions. Not sure we've got the financial clout for that.

Think you may be right TVR... It's daft really; if there's no takers in the Championship for his services then why not drop into league one with a side that's going to (hopefully) be gunning for promotion. His agent could always insist on a 'contract renegotiation clause in he event of obtaining promotion' in an contract he puts pen to paper on.

He could be in danger of pricing himself out of a move if he's no careful. After all he's only tried and tested at League Two level, in spite of showing great potential...

It would seem that because he for the time being, technically a premiership player through no contribution of his own, believes he is better than he is.

I personally prefer le fondre and think the Cody would be too similar to BWP.

It could be an interesting insight into the player, he may damage his career on an assumption that he's better than L1, which he may or may not be, we don't actually know. He did o.k at this level briefly, showing his potential. Then had a good season in a decent-ish side in L2 last season, now the team he didn't play for last season are Premier League doesn't make him Premier League. For me, this would be his natural step in League level. Find a challenger, sign for them and get promoted.

All that in mind, I'd still like us to sign him up

I believe Wednesday dropped out as Norwich were asking 600k for him!

I wouldn't want us paying that much for a player in this league. Wages will be top end as well.

£100k would represent 300% profit on a player hey don't want, £600k is 2300% profit. greed on their investment, overpricing and stalling a players career progression. Love them Canaries

Said it before, will say it again. Hayes and BWP are more than good enough for this league.

Hi guys Norwich fan here. Cody is loved at Norwich and many of us would love him to stay but at the same time feel it is probably best he moves on to further his career (also having jumped up from league 1 to prem so quickly it is too soon for him to be in our 25 man squad). He is a great lad and works his arse off for the whole game. I think Shef Wed pulled out...and also P'boro did because we are wanting 550k for him rather than Cody wanting too much money, infact I doubt he is a on big wages at all.
I think 550k is a lot considering he is only proven in league 2 for a season but if you can get him for around the 300k plus a sell on clause or something it would be a good deal for all.

Sadly it's a going rate for anyone who is after a goalscorer, no matter what level they are proven at. Strikers always have inflated fees.

I have a solution... We'll bung you a drink, you send him to us on a season long loan. He'll smash the goals to get us promoted. Happy days...!! Then, when you get relegated after one season in the Premiership you either have him back or flog him to us for a pre agreed price... JOB DONE... <laugh>.

I hope you're right Super. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for them, and I would much rather they stayed up over the Sheep Shaggers. Who imo shouldn't bloody wel be playing in English football anyway...!! However I can see Norwich struggling myself...

Going to be hard, but in Lambert he is a manager who can get that little bit more out of his players. Not in his ethos for players to have a defeatist attitude.

But maybe that's because he was one of my favourite players growing up and I have a soft spot for him and hope he succeeds <whistle>

We're quite optimistic about staying up although don't think it will be easy at all. Paul Lambert has bought in players that are young and hungry and should we get relegated then they will certainly be good enough to go straight back up. If we do stay up though we have a group of players who have time to get even better and also haven't cost us huge amounts of money.

I believe Cody only has a year left on his contract with us so loaning him out isn't really an option as we wouldn't get a penny come next season

What did you pay for him LMM...?

I personally don't think 600k is too expensive. Especially when you consider we paid 1.5 million for the big lankey streak of p**s who shall remain nameless after one good season in League Two...!!

And... Benno is supposed to have cost us 250k/300k with no resale value and he weren't proven at League One level... So 600k for a lad who's got 7/8 years on him with the potential to become more valuable doesn't seem too bad a deal to me.

Paid 25k from Dartford and gave them a friendly game as well I think.

I think it is fair for a striker who is young that knows where the net is. Also coming from a premiership side the value is always more even though he hasn't had a great deal of playing time above league 2.

There was a lot of talk about CMS from P'boro this summer and he had a price tag of about 3m. He is obviously a better player than Cody at the moment but has only scored in league 1 really so if you compare it to that situation I think his price is good. I'm not sure how many he scored last season for Gillingham but think it was 24-26 or something but he also missed the first few games because of injury. If he went to you then I would expect him to score about 15 goals if playing regularly
