Hi Dev, Pompey might take their foot off the gas for this one. Northampton will just prevail I think. Someone has to go down with Torquay, but who? I have a funny feeling it's going to be Exeter, joining their fellow west country rivals.
We might, just might, only get a draw on this one - tbh I was expecting just a draw today against the Gas. But as it's an away match we might get a win. Won't get a feeling in my bones until Monday though.
I think we're starting to run low on energy now and Northampton are in good form. A draw would be good.
A draw would be a good result - we know ourselves the extra 10% that comes from being in the S**t so I expect a really tough encounter - hopefully we go there with a level of pressure lifted and the opportunity to keep the unbeaten run going. I'd like us to get at least 2 pts from our last two games - greedily I'll say minimum 4 pts. May be time to bring in some fresh legs Monday. PUP
I reckon if we rotate some of the players who appear most tired, with the likes of Ertl/Chorley/Racon/Agyemang, we would be all right up at Northampton, and either gain a draw, or possibly win. The adrenalin should get us through it, especially with Awfs motivating them. I'd love to see us win both remaining matches, and finish on 60 points, and I think we are capable of achieving that.
Reckon you may be right Woop - and happy birthday....just great to have positive feelings at the end of a very difficult season and to hear FP back in form.
Thanks for the good wishes, Eastney Adam Webster should stay in the starting line up. He has done well for us since Awfs recalled him from his loan spell at Aldershot. Two goals in two matches playing in defence shows he must be our lucky talisman !
We will do our best for you Captain Jack Must say very impressed with your fans today - helped create a brilliant atmosphere. Hope you stay up.
Last four game form guide puts Rovers and Rochdale in the bottom three (only Hartlepool below them). Guess who are top with the only100% record?
Team for today: Carson, East, Devera, Bradley, Ertl (c), Alfei, Shorey, Fogden, Agyemang, Jervis, Wallace. Subs, Smith, N'Gala, Holmes, Webster,Drennan, Hollands and McCabe. No Chorley - his wife gave birth yesterday.
Awford has definitely looked to freshen things up. Funny what difference a few games makes. Had that been a Barker team selection I'd have been groaning. Also, great to see Johnny Ertl in the XI and as captain. Anyway, according to my now admittedly terrible maths, with Bristol Rovers currently 2-1 down against Rochdale, we're safe. They needed to win the game (as Wycombe and Bristol Rovers are playing each other). So, by the time we kick off, we might know where we'll be playing next season!
Practically a totally different team. It'll be difficult to keep up the momentum of the past few weeks.
We only need a draw really now we're mathematically safe. Will be interesting to see how this team performs.
