Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has told talkSPORT the club are currently negotiating a deal with Carlton Cole and Jonathan Woodgate.
The West Ham striker has been linked with a move to the Potters ever since the Hammer’s demotion from the Premier League and a deal could now be completed for by next week.
Former Tottenham defender Woodgate has also come onto Tony Pulis’ radar and a play-per-play deal is being offered to the England international.

When asked about Cole, Coates said: “It’s not done and dusted but it’s work in progress.
“He’s a player the club is interested in and Tony Pulis has liked him for a long time, we think he’s a very good player.”
Coates went on to talk about Jonathan Woodgate’s possible move to the Britannia and said: “We’re working on that and it’s something we’re prepared to do.
“It’s work in progress but we’re taking a risk. We hope we’ll be able to do something.”

I saw that ESPN report but I reckon they were adding 2 and 2 and making 5. It did seem to be guesswork in my opinion.
