Kit Symons moves up and the others go: "Billy McKinlay leaves after 9 years at the club, alongside Jol appintements Cornelious Jol and Michael Linderman. Promoted to the first team set-up is Kit Symons, who has been doing fantastic work with the U21 team. Jonathan Hill is also a new appointment, joining as new Head Coach after 10 years coaching at youth level with Manchester United, between which he was Technical Director at the FA and coach at Tromso and Manchester City." Who is Jonathan Hill? Really pleased Kit has stepped up to first team duties. Does that mean Rene M is the Manager? "Fulham Football Club would like to welcome Jonathan Hill, appointed as First Team Coach to work with Rene Meulensteen. Jonathan Hill worked at Manchester United for 10 years as Academy Youth Coach prior to joining the Jordanian Football Association as Technical Director of Football in 2009 where he was responsible for all of the National Youth Teams from Under-8s to Under-20s. More recently, Jonathan has coached at both Manchester City and Tromso FC. The Club can also confirm that Development Team Manager Kit Symons will also be assisting with First Team training, alongside his responsibilities for the Under-21 Team. Michael Lindeman, Billy McKinlay and Cornelis Jol have left the Club and we would like to thank them for their service and wish them well for the future."
Great things are expected from RENE lets hope we signed the one from Man U, and not the one from Hello Hello
Rene obviously knows him from their Man United days. Can’t find out very much about him in the ‘network’ though . Profile (as produced by Jonathan Hill): http://www.linkedin.com/pub/jonathan-hill/29/52/447 He left Tromso (who we obviously have connections with) in August, I think it was, and under a bit of a cloud. This link to a ’fan site’ suggests that he was the wrong man to go but it includes some less flattering rumours: http://www.isberget.no/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6405&start=40
Blimey, every day C58 goes up in my estimation but this tops it all. I never knew you could speak Norwegian? What were the less flattering rumours, lets get them out in the open now.
It would seem Fulham have made a point of not naming Rene Manager. Two reports one stating he will run First Team Duties, the other saying he is Head Coach. Is it good that they leave things like this unexplained. Should we expect a Sporting Director to brought in to run the club. (ala Kinnear)
Selvfølgelig! Hva bra størrelse har du på deg of JARiise? No - used Google translation. The rumour put politely, is that after a "wee dram" on a night out, he was a bit indiscreet about the manager and the manager's tactics.
Good news, I think. Kit Symons' promotion seems to give some basis for hoping more of the youngsters will be given their chance. No one knows those players better than Kit. We'll have to wait and see.
The daily mail (I know) are reporting that Rene wants to bring in former United assistant manager Mike Phelan as his number 2. Personally I think he'd be a great addition. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2523852/Rene-Meulensteen-wants-reunion-old-United-pal-Mike-Phelan.html
One of the most interesting Jol quotes prior to his departure was him saying that he told Kit Symons "When one of the youngsters is good enough, come knock on my door". Kit never knocked on his door. My point here is that it is essential that our whole coaching staff is on the same page. From Rene through his coaching staff and all the way to the Academy. If Rene believes Mike Phelan would slot in with Kit and our current structure, I'm all for it. However, I would expect Phelan to take either a manager job or a "head coach" role like Rene did.
