I'd have thought Adams needs extra help, not to be left even more to his own devices? Ian Culverhouse still out of work? http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/norwich-city-coach-mark-robson-departs-2073993.aspx? edit: according to ITV, he was sacked, it wasn't even a 'mutual consent' job! http://www.itv.com/news/anglia/update/2014-11-10/norwich-city-sack-first-team-coach-robson/
With immediate effect. No further comment from the club at this time. Hmmmm. Wonder what has happened there then. Might be just me, but all does not seem well behind the scenes.
No, smacks of knee-jerk scapegoatism to me. As in 'let's appease the revolting natives by a bit of bloodletting' Plus it's becoming incresingly apparent that Adams needs more help, not less
Could be the start of the clear out.... or more likely a reshuffle I would imagine that the club has highlighted / looking for someone else to bring in as a replacement with a possible different skill set.
I'm sure you're right KoPR. The club made it quite clear that they had redesigned the structure so that the first team manager (i.e. Adams) would have substantially less responsibility than in the past. I'm not sure I fully understand how the responsibilities of each specific role are delineated, but if Robson is responsible for coaching, say, the defensive aspects and monitors substitutions then this is the correct decision. So while I agree that it is clear that Adams needs more help, without further information it can only be assumed that the club are trying to make changes based on our current form. On the basis that they will be finding a replacement (hopefully sharpish, though we now have the international break, that is a good thing as far as I am concerned. Adams definitely needs more help. If the structure means that others get fired when they are not doing their job, so be it. The one thing Adams is good at is being the face of the media. I'm still a bit unsure about how much he is involved even on an in-game tactical level.
How on earth can you come up with a sensible and reasoned suggestion at a time like this Rob? Surely this is the time to be making stuff up, for wild speculation, thinking of the worst case scenario and shouting and screaming from the rooftops that our club is "doomed and headed straight for League 2 without passing GO" isn't it?
I think there is a possibility that Adams could be moved to first team coach and we might get a Manager or a DOF.
Mike Phelan to come in as assistant head coach ? Nah, that would be a bit too ambitious for 'lil ol' Norridge wouldn't it ?
Apologies - I wasn't clear. That's exactly what I meant. Although I should add that we certainly won't be collecting £200 either. I get the feeling he's already in that sort of role in all but name, but we missed out on a "DOF" named slightly differently when Joe Royle left
What I meant was Adams may be moved into more of a Robson role rather than like he is at moment. And then get an actual football manager in or a DOF.
Strange one this, and hard to know just what to read into it, but that, actually to me, sounds the sort of thing that McNally might well consider, especially if they want to keep Adams in some sort of role at the club. May of course be nothing like it, but I was quite happy to see Robson as part of the team, simply because he had no previous connections with the Club, and surely Adams must have had some sort of say in this, they´d hardly sack his assistant without consulting him first.
I just doubt that McNally would make a change that would, to all outwards appearances, be a demotion to Adams. The way he talked about the changes to structure, it was about taking responsibilities out of the manager's hands, so I very much doubt Adams' title will change at all, it's just likely he will get more assistants being allocated certain responsibilities. I could be entirely wrong, because it's really not transparent, but it seems to me wishful thinking that Adams would actually be demoted.
It´s not that I particularly wish it Rob, but let´s face it, that option is never very far from the surface these days.
I can't think of a single time an English football manager has been demoted. It's far more likely that they are fired
