From the Post match report vs Cambridge... Darrell Clarke expressed satisfaction at Bristol Rovers’ recent run of unbeaten Memorial Stadium form after revealing he had received a letter describing him as ‘clueless’ the last time they lost in front of their home supporters. Rovers took their unbeaten run at the Memorial Stadium into double figures earlier today after a Billy Bodin brace and a Matty Taylor strike wrapped up a comfortable 3-0 success over Cambridge United in front of a sold out Memorial Stadium. Clarke’s side have now won nine and drawn one of the ten games they have played on home soil since losing 2-1 to Stevenage on November 24, after which the manager received a correspondence to suggest that he has still not won the hearts and minds of all supporters since taking charge two years ago this weekend. Clarke said, whilst sporting a mischievous grin: “I had a punter write to me to tell me that I was clueless. I’m wondering when he is going to write to me again. We’ve won nine and drawn one since then and I’d be interested to hear if he still has the same opinion now some months on. I don’t mind that sort of criticism because it all part of the job. I take it all in my stride because I also get hundreds of letters of support. You are never going to please all of the people all of the time.” http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...tory-28994099-detail/story.html#ixzz445vLYqX1
After DC getting us promoted and we were 10th DC recieved that letter, how on earth has someone got the audacity to call him "clueless"! We really do have some nutters
That's society these days I'm afraid - they will be there in every club I've said this on here before, but the way Clarke fronted up to the press/supporters after the Mansfield game and all through that Summer you could tell the guy had something about him
A lot of people I spoke to would of been happy to consolidate around mid table this season. Clarke always wanted to push for a top 7 finish, and now we are 3rd fighting for automatic.... Clueless is not a word I use!!!
Bet whoever sent that letter to DC is feeling pretty clueless themselves now! It would be nice if the person concerned writes to DC again now, giving the appropriate praise for what he has achieved this season, and admitting that his earlier letter was borne from frustration and nothing more than a misguided knee jerk reaction to a bad run of results. Bet he hasn't got the balls to do that though.
You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time and some off them you will never please any of the time
You probably know by now with all of your delving about that our Manager is new this season. We started well enough and then were in the top 2 for a long time. Adams was hailed as a breath of fresh air from just about every quarter you could find. The football compared to the previous incumbent was indeed a revelation mind you. His choice of player was wonderful, his tactics were wonderful, indeed some hardened male supporters would even have married him if they could have and borne children from the union. Tab forward to the last couple of weeks where we have now dropped through 3rd to 4th. There are those worried sick about him. He is tactically naive and doesn't give the players a kicking in public. Can't pick a player and we will be lucky to make it to the top half finish let alone anything else. These are the same people mind you. Just the sort of people you'd rely on in a crisis.
I will repeat what I said at the beginning of last season, if we support DC we will I believe have our version of Sir Alex, he is not afraid to make changes if things are not going to plan or a player playing not playing well / or not doing as instructed, he is honest in his appraisal of team performances and will do his best to answer any questions you have if you talk to him. I for one thought that a top 7 finish was asking a bit much of a newly promoted team and probably said this on this forum, I have however supported the team whoever is selected at all the matches I have been able to attend. I am sure we could all pick a team that would score ten goals a game without conceding any because as supporters we are all managers, but I listen to the noise that all you Gasheads make during the matches and I know that the support never dwindles Lets hope for a successful conclusion to the season and hope that the person who said DC is clueless has the courage to apologise
