    I don't know if that is a usual thing to do? Ask a rivial manager just before you play the opening game about another player and alerting them to your targets.

    I know Townsend is a winger but does anyone on here think he could do a job as a striker playing a more central role?

    Ahh, I'd take it as at QPR. I guess it's a very subjective statement. I wonder whether Redknapp recommended whoever we asked about.

    after hearing the Redknapp interview it's an ex QPR player ("used to play here") not someone that has played under him at another club.

    The way I (maybe hopefully) assess this is - Jermain Defoe. Used to play 'here' (under harry at spurs) and now is abroad....

    There is no way is it Defoe. The MLS season is still going on, Toronto is going to make the playoffs and he just moved there. Not to mention that Defoe makes 90k pounds a week at Toronto and has over 3 years left on his contract.
