This is good news that has been ignored due to the influx of WUMs... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11709/7787602/Eyes-on-Martin Obviously great if we can sell him for quite a bit, I think we just rose too fast for the guy. He deserves regular football so I wish him well. Anyone think we shouldn't let him go?
Whatever happens, I'll wish him the best. He's a much better footballer than people make out and some Norwich fans have an unhealthy agenda against him for some reason so he got pissed and thrown out of a pub or whatever, he's hardly mario ballotelli is he? I'd almost be happy for him to join pre-season and see how it goes. You never know!
I actually think he has a future at the club, I think trying him out at attacking midfield may be a good idea, he is good on the ball and has a decent long range shot on him as well as being a great finisher. Maybe being biased because it's always nice seeing an academy player in the squad but I genuinely think he has Premier League ability in him, his all round play is decent and doesn't have many weaknesses in his game. He is definitely one of them players who splits opinions in the terraces. Either way best of luck to him!
The problem really is when do we play him? If he was at the club when we were safe with a few games to go at the end of last season, then maybe we could have given him a chance then, but until we're (hopefully) in that position at the end of next season, I can't see Lambert wanting to risk him, and playing in the reserves for a season on the off-chance he'll get that opportunity is a waste for him and us. He's still young, and playing for Crystal Palace seems to have raised his stock. Maybe loan him out again for a full season, see if he can make a real impact at championship level, and then either recall him late in the season if there's the chance to let him get a couple of games, or reassess the situation next season.
Bless him, if we have serious ambitions about staying in the top flight, he won't feature for NCFC again. So best for all parties to offload while there's interest ( allegedly) from these other clubs. Sorry Chris, but there's no room for sentiment in business
TO be honest your spot on, I think he has potential to play in Premier League but to fulfill that potential he needs first team football. Probably with him going on out loan is he never really has that security and that settled feeling which again may affect him hitting that potential at 22 he really needs a three year contract where he can play first team football. I suppose as a fan we can afford to have sentiments because we are not making the decision which is probably a good thing. I do think he is a decent player though, and unfairly got stick about not getting many goals last season although I remember seeing him at the Forest away game where he was brilliant.
Can we sell him, but stick a buy-back clause in? Get £500k for him, with an option to buy him back for say £750k if we like. Let him develop into a PL standard player, and then steal him back.
