Watching Spain beat the ROI last evening, I pondered whether Spain were as good as Real Madrid or Barcelona.
I'm pretty convinced that both Manchester clubs are certainly better than the current England team. So in the modern game, is the World Cup or Euro2012 not as good as the Champions league/Copa Libertadores combined would be?

I think the club game is superior to the international one now IMO. Spain did look good last night but TBH, Ireland were absolute pants and are without question the poorest nation at the tournament. Mind you, I don't think England are much better, we shall see tonight <ok>

Generally I thin that the top clubs are stronger than the top international sides. Munich probably shade Germany, Real and Barca would be better than Spain and a whole host of Premiership clubs are better than England or Ireland.

Are you seriously going to watch that game tonight KIO? It's embarrassing to see 9 men defending and just booting the ball up field only for it come straight back, it's not what we're used to watching at Carrow Road! I didn't watch the France game, apparently it was as I just described, and one national newspaper gave Terry the MoM award and 9 out of 10 rating. Was that for kicking the ball out for a throw in???
In answer to Redruths question, definitely CLUB, I think any of our premiership sides would do better than the national team.
Tonight I will be cutting a tree down instead of watching the game, I'm seriously that disillusioned with England!!

Lets be realistic, the reason most premier teams are better than the England team is because most of them are full of bloody foreigners, both Barca and Madrid are made up by mostly Spanish players, so if you picked the best players from both teams to play the Spanish national team they would have no one to play except fringe players.

Many of Barcelona/Real's best players are not Spanish. In fact don't Real have only Casillas, Alonso and Ramos in the team. And Barcelona wouldn't be half the team without Messi.
But having said that, would international teams perform better if they were in a league instead of qualifiers and tournaments? Would their mentality be different and their coaches be more savvy from week to week?
