Dempsey scored the second USA goal in a 3-2 win against Slovenia, in freezing conditions. He seemed to push his marker away before connecting with the header. It was a header to make it 2-1 and USA went 3-1 up before half time with an Altidor penalty. Slovenia were unlucky in the second half with lots of chances but only one goal to finish 2-3. Zamora did well with his hold up play and created two good chances for Rodwell, and had one good chance to score but it was blocked in the six yard box. Another snap shot went into the side net from a one-two with Walcott. Ruiz helped Costa Rica to goto 2-0 up against Spain and was involved for the second goal, but Spain came back in the second half to draw 2-2 with goals from Silva and Villa a late goal in the 93 minute.
Generally positive on the most part for our players, for those that care dempsey's goal now makes him the joint 4th highest USA goalscorer with 24, 6 behind McBride in 3rd, 20 behind Landon Donovan in 1st.
By all accounts the tempo wasn't that great but Ruiz showed class. http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loNEEqfMsyY Heck of a way to go to have good game. Doubt with all the travelling he'll be in the starting line up on Saturday. Demps (Paris and Slovenia) though not so far, might also be travel weary - in the last round of Internationals he also scored a corking goal but looked a tad jaded in our next game. Duff though should be brim full of confidence, always assuming he didn't overdo the celebrations down the Liffey.
An interesting and at times amusing acoount of Dempsey's performance from 'our Washington correspondent' - with news of a Fulham oldie and a youngster thrown in for good measure - http://http://blogs.soccernet.com/fulham/archives/2011/11/the_view_from_america.php
