Very interesting post Sku. I agree that I can't see Derry or Hill as top flight managers, Leagues 1 or 2 perhaps, and probably not coaching much above that level either, though I'm sure they offer as much as Jordan, Bond or WALLY DOWNES. As for Barton, his managerial career may be a mirror image of Paolo di Canio's......
Great servant to the club. Gives it his best every game and I for one wish we had 11 players with his attitude particularly last season. If we had we would have stayed up.
Having read this through twice now, I have come to the conclusion that it's about snobbery. Clint and Derry aren't the most articulate of human beings, but to decide that they wouldn't be able to cut it as coaches because of this is laughable. Have you listened to many of today's coaches/managers?
I think you should read it a third time then. You'll find that I haven't decided that they won't be able to cut it 'because of this'. And that I haven't decided anything at all. I've simply stated that it's naive to assume that as great ambassadors, great cultural leaders and hard working, brave footballers that they'll make great managers or coaches. It's too easy to assume this. My side point was merely an observation that Shaun Derry's Twitter feed was somewhat banal. Let's face it, we are all guilty of 'they're there their' mistakes and spelling errors. Charlie Austin's is much the same. But I did like this response to the 1-0 loss at Derby 'f**king shoulder!'. I challenge Clive Whittington to use another 9,998 words to better sum up what his two word Tweet conveyed.
