In my opinion, he's the best man for the job. Nelson was a great captain but Hill is a bit of a legend. He helped get us promoted and he is such a solid player. He's tamed so many premier league stars. How many players can say they came up against him and consistently beat him in the air?

Also, I caught a ball directly kicked by him last season! And he was fan's and players' player of the year last time.

    One minute late! Delete, please.

[edit] don't delete. Northolt has deleted his.

I can't seem to copy and paste the quotes from Facebook. I'm using an iPad. Says he's chuffed, of course.

Hill handed armband for remainder of the season

It’s a very proud moment for me. I’m honoured and privileged."
HARRY REDKNAPP has confirmed Clint Hill is the new QPR captain.

The 34 year-old has been captaining the side in recent weeks despite Ji-Sung Park’s return to fitness and Redknapp told www.qpr.co.uk: “Clint is a great character, a good lad and a fantastic professional.

“He leads by example and has been superb for me since the moment I walked through the door.

“You know what you’re going to get from Clint when he plays and that’s 100 per-cent. He puts his body on the line for the club and that’s what we need.

“We are in a battle to stay in the Premier League and we need players like him.”

Hill, who has made 89 appearances in all competitions since joining QPR on a free transfer in June 2010, said: “It’s a very proud moment for me.

“I’m honoured and privileged. I’m sure it will be something I look back on in years to come with great admiration.

“Ji and Ryan have both had the honour of captaining the side this season and I’m relishing following in their footsteps.”

Does that mean he's either leaving us next week, or he's going to play s**t for the rest of the season?!

The only choice really, especially as we seem to be looking for a defensive midfielder, meaning Derry will probably figure less. He's be my other choice otherwise.

Too right as well. Im a massive fan of his as he does the simple things well and has good positional sense to counteract his lace of pace. Well done Harry.

And I have his boots from last season as well!

If he thinks he's proud now, how proud will he be when he looks back at the fact that he led the team to survival in 2012/13?

I want a goal in the PL for him this season too, please. He deserves one.

QPR defender Clint Hill has been named as the club's captain until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old has been a regular in the Loftus Road side's starting line-up since Harry Redknapp appointment as manager in December, making 18 appearances so far this season.

6/4 QPR are 6/4 with William Hill to avoid relegation from the Premier League Ji-Sung Park was made skipper by then-manager Mark Hughes following the midfielder's summer arrival, before Redknapp gave the armband to Ryan Nelsen – debut with the Australian's imminent departure to take up the managerial post at MLS side Toronto FC, Hill has been named as his replacement.
"Clint is a great character, a good lad and a fantastic professional," Redknapp told the club's official website.

"He leads by example and has been superb for me since the moment I walked through the door.

"You know what you're going to get from Clint when he plays and that's 100%. He puts his body on the line for the club and that's what we need."

Hill added: "It's a very proud moment for me. I'm honoured and privileged. I'm sure it will be something I look back on in years to come with great admiration."

"Ji and Ryan have both had the honour of captaining the side this season and I'm relishing following in their footsteps."

Good for Clint. Merit without the usual age-ist exclusion. Commonsense prevails. Thanks 'Arry.

I assume Derry is ok with this? I really rate Hill and would have him as first name on the team sheet regardless of who we bring in but Derry is clearly the one who can do the on pitch organising and cajoling.

No brainer really. Neslen is offski, Park hardly plays and when he does he never speaks/shouts/calls for the ball etc, Adel only got the job as part of Colin's 'arm around the shoulders' routine. I'd also have gone for Derry if not Clint, both have that sort of style about them.

And he's called Clint, end of.
