Arsenal were reportedly very much in for him in the Summer. With Jack suffering a set-back and Fulham not doing particularly well this season, how would you feel about a bid for him? He brings Premiership experience, is a creative midfielder, is 28, scores 1 in 4, and is over 6 foot.
Would be delighted. Think he's everything we need at the moment. Plays anywhere across the front line, can hold the ball up, nice technique and a streak of aggression in him. He's not the best player in the world but he's very solid. Probably not fashionable enough for most on here though...
Always liked Clint Dempsey and rated him highly. If we are definitely going for him, I'm keeping my fingers n toes crossed and will blow the dust off the Stars n Stripes of which I have a small facsimile somewhere.
I reckon they would want too much for him. I would prefer to go for him in the summer when he is (hopefully) cheaper and we have got rid of a few under-performing players.
May being blinkered here but think you're selling him short. £15-17 and I think they'd take us seriously. ... though I'd open with a bid of £13m
Chuck in a player that isn't good enough for you (Chamakh? I don't know, have a think) and 7-10m and I think you'd get him. I like him as a player, think he'd be a good backup for VDV at Spurs. Can't see where he'd play at Arsenal, he's best through the middle, but not an out and out striker (like VDV) - but you tend to play two wingers and RVP?
Out of interest I just raised this with a Fulham fan and he said he'd be gutted if they didn't get 25-30m for him due to his age, consistency and influence. Fair point I suppose. As most fans tend to over-value their players I'd say 20m at the very very most. Spurs chap at work said to sell Modric he thinks he's worth 30m + Torres. By my maths I reckon we should put a cheeky 15m bid in !
Would definitely have him over Arshavin, he is a hard worker, and scores the goals, would definitely contribute more than Arshavin is at the moment.
He is considered a striker. It's very difficult when you start looking at these players who normally play up front in a 4-4-2, or a variation of that, and try to fit them into our set up. He does play deeper for the US national team I think, but I'm not sure he isn't a little too attacking to play in our midfield.
