Ah the old never mind the story look at where it's published, it's the Guardian, it's the Daily Mail, it's GB News, even it's the BBC.
I agree the main Drax produces more emissions that the coal plant lacks details but it is an opening for readers to go and find out more, and question what is going on. It mentions the amount of subsidies, wood chip from North America, further subsidies for capturing the carbon they emit by burning the wood.

But alternatively it's in the Guardian, nothing to see here move along.

I mean, you always have to look at the source and factor it into the article, right?

The biggest scandal in the article is that shareholders are being paid dividends when the business is reliant on subsidies to survive.

It's a fair point in this case, as though it's true that Drax generates four times the emissions, it generates over eleven times the power, so it's still far more efficient.

Though the whole set-up at Drax still seems really dodgy.

It may generate more power because it's bigger, so it may not be more efficient. I agree that on this the article is very vague and that the whole set up seems dodgy.

Not a chance, it would be impossible to do my job, I've so far this year taken 11 trips which has totalled 25 flights, all long haul bar 2 internal flights.... I do use paper straws though so it's all cancelled out

How did you manage during covid?

The only reason I'm asking this, is my Eldest Daughter's a Civil Servant who has to travel to London on frequent occasions(by flight, sometimes train).During covid they switched to 'Zoom' meetings which appeared to be as effective?

Don't get me wrong, they're back to their face to face 'jollies' but in reality that long period of lockdowns proved they aren't strictly necessary.

The eco bloke saying that said that there should be a large tax on frequent fliers. There is no need in this day with the technology available. Heathrow should be taxed out of existence was another of his suggestions. More confirmation that eco zealots and greens are fruit loops.
The new government is, you will be pleased to know, is giving £11 billion to aid countries with green initiatives. One of the recipients from that fund is in the process of building 27 new airports and building 50 new coal fired power stations. Pity we can’t find a way to keep people on £11,400 a year pension warm after cutting their Winter Fuel allowance.

We still do a heck of a lot via online meeting platforms, but to do the actual physical on site stuff, important meetings to close things etc I always do it face to face, plus I'm a little old School and always prefer things face to face when trying to grow things in new regions

I still had to fly every 15 days when i started employed work again in 2021 - we had to go in quarantine for two days before and after and take a test just before the flight. Still had outbreaks at work but most worked through it after 24 hours bed rest, because if not, there were problems as we were down to skeleton essential staff.

Supported by showing forest fires around Athens, something which happens every year and is often caused by arson.

Someone should inform the pensionist beer monsters on here...

The last three years have been really high, last year there were 47,000 deaths attributed to the heat in Europe, the year before was 61,000.

You need to look in to how those figures are generated before accepting them at face value. Many of the figures churned out for a variety of topics, even from official bodies would not be up to a standard that would pass an O level.

According to what measure? How many died in 1976?

If we are going to be policing social media for fake news, we should be looking at main stream media too.
