Thought you might get a laugh out of this, one of my Arsenal supporting mates brought it to my attention: "I really believe if you are a player who thinks only about money then you could end up at Manchester City." (Gael Clichy, 2009)
Disgraceful and disrespectful. Although I don't support Arsenal I respect them more as a club then the likes of Adebayor, Clichy and even Nasri to some extent have done recently. Arsenal fan's dont realise the behind the scenes work Arsene Wenger does 1 to 1 with the youngsters, if they did then Arsene would get a knighthood and the players who have kicked it back in his face would get the respect they deserve (Or lack of it)
There's a severely limited supply of players who don't think about money. Carragher, Gerrard, and a very few others. Players who are playing at their boyhood clubs, the clubs they've always loved and wanted to play for. I don't think Stevie G will ever move, or would ever want to move. He promised someone close to him who died very young that he'd be Captain of Liverpool one day, because that person never had the chance to. For most players, playing is a job. If someone offered me twice the salary to do my job somewhere else, I'd take it. The extra 10% when your team is losing, the big pep talk, the kick on, the never-say-die attitude, that comes from homegrown players playing for a club they love. You can't train that. I hope in a few years when a few more Arsenal youngsters have made it through, that they'll have some of that. Like Frimpong: "Arsenal FC is pumping through my veins, I will never leave Arsenal even if I get released I will beg on both knees to stay they're going to have to escort me." - Now that's what I like to hear!!
He didn't "come out and say it" but he was as good as gone. He nearly left for the glory, not the money.
not to rain on your parade or anything but... http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...uel-frimpong-claims-cardiff-charlton-athletic i don't think frimpong holds arsenal quite so dear to his heart..
In 2009 his quote was probably justified. But in 2011, Mad Citeh still offer an amazing Financial Opportunity and Sporting Opportunity. More so than Arsenal in both respects
Arsenal fan's dont realise the behind the scenes work Arsene Wenger does 1 to 1 with the youngsters. LOL I've always suspected as much.
