More about Clichy in the Manc Derby this post. When he got that ball on the left just before he give that free kick away my mind recalled him dithering numerous for us in similar situations, most notably against Birmigham in 2008 and Spurs when it finished 4-4. WHat do you, he goes and does it here. I said at the time, I was never too unhappy about losing Clichy or Nasri, bot of whom played a role in United's winner. RVP - if he really did go to United for trophies, then he made the right decision. Even with him I think we'd be not much better off this season, or rather, we wouldn't be challenging for the title even if he had stayed.
In my opinion we haven't missed Clichy & Nasri. We will only know how much we miss Van Persie by the number of goals we score at the end of the season
I like our team better without RVP from a theoretical standpoint. How that translates to practical results on the pitch remains to be seen.
Which basically means, quit all this 'theoretical' mumbo jumbo nonsense, and stick with reality, how about that? That's one of the silliest thing's I've heard, in fact, that takes the cake for the silliest football argument I've ever heard. Anyone can turn around and say yeah we sold our best player(s), but THEORETICALLY, that makes us better. At the end of the day, selling RVP was a terrible mistake, anyone who says otherwise, is talking utter sh!t, simple as that. United sit at the top of the table, a lot of it down to RVP's winning goals, while we sit 15 points below them, you keep your theories, I'll stick with what's actually happening.
Have to say, watching Toure and Nasri today has reminded me of Wenger's fantastic coaching ability. How he made them two look like very good footballers is beyond me - I'd have thought going undefeated with Toure in the team was a mathematical impossibility! Does help shed more light on how he's kept Arsenal at the top for so long with limited resources, but probably also why the trophies eluded you for so long - why splash the cash on world class players when you can pick up a couple of useless fatties and turn them into good players...
I thought RVP was going to be **** at Utd cos we didn't have Alex Song and he wouldn't fit our system?
I'd also disagree with you, because on paper, the team doesn't look all that great either, we have many players on paper who aren't anything special at all. Players like Ramsey playing average on the pitch is because on paper, he's an average player, the same with Gervino, who the f--k looks at Gervinho on paper and thinks wow, that's a world class player? We as Arsenal fans, or some of us, like to inflate the quality of a lot of our players, when the reality is that a lot of our players aren't top notch quality.
Chez (1 of the best GKs in the world) Sagna (Best RB in the Prem) Mert (Top International CB) Verm (Top CB) Gibbs (Fantastic LB Prospect) Arteta (A very good player) SJW10 (Future of England) Caz (Top Spanish International) Theo (Good, fast Winger) Giroud (Top scorer in Ligue 1, French International) Podolski (Top German International, 18 goals with a **** team) Doesn't seem like a bad squad to me Ramsey (Very young, Former Welsh Captain) Gervihno (Ivory Coast International. Terrorized the French league, on his best is very deadly)
That is a good squad and group of players, I never said they were low quality, but that isn't a world class team for me, there are lot's of good players in that side, but it's not an elite group of players. Giroud= Good, but not world class quality Podolski= Same as above Theo= Turning into one, can he now do it consistently to prove it? Time will tell Gervinho= Decent player, nothing special, may have 'terrorised' players in the French league, but this is the English premier league, and the only people he's terrorised are Arsenal fans with his displays. Ramsey= Wilshere is very young too, ;-). Cazorla is world class, but he's one man, as seen in many games, he can't do everything if there aren't players at his quality around him, which I feel the likes of Pod, Gervinho, and Giroud, are not. Btw, it's interesting you say Sagna is the best RB in the league, but in other posts you say you won't mind if he goes! So we're talking about world class quality, and you don't have a problem in getting rid of one.
Citeh have a team of susposed world class players but they got dumped out of the CL without winning a game
Szczesny isn't one of the best GKs in the world, I wouldn't put him even in the top 10 just looking at PL, La Liga, Serie A. I'm guessing there are quite a few better at Bundesliga as well. He has good reflexes but plenty of past keepers who everyone has forgot have had that as well. He still makes elementary mistakes week in week out (that teams don't exploit them more often doesn't mean he hasn't made them). This season Mannone has been better for us. He has less ability but is obviously smarter, and does the fundamentals better. Calms the game down when it's needed (doesn't put the game back in play in 10 milliseconds every ****ing time like Szcz), knows when to come out and when not to, makes the right decisions and doesn't try to do the hero move when not necessary. And guess what? that's what required 99% of the time. If you are the better team or at least competitive on the pitch you won't require GK heroics to save you, you need him not to **** up.
And they're still 9 points above us, and are the league champions, so what? You can celebrate making it out of the group stage like you've won some trophy, while City did do sh!t, they still won a league, I'd have that any day of the week. And City do have a team of world class players, not 'supposedly', you don't win the EPL if you don't have class, unless you're truly trying to argue City don't have world class players? If City don't have world class players by your estimation, then Arsenal are well and truly ****!
more than happy to see Nasiri snubbing us to go to City .. he has been average tbh in most of his city career Clichey .... I think he is doing better than him tbh RVP .. class .. let us hope he stay fit .. he looked tired already and we are not even reached mid season .. he was average today till the goal , but overall he is doing great no wonder why Sir Alex over using him and now he is tired
