When Bruce gets the job, he wants them to transfer to Villa to join his coaching staff, with Warren Joyce as his assistant.

Nicky Butt is apparently becoming more involved in the U21's at Man U, so there could be room for Joyce to leave.

Please, please let him come here and not Villa. Come on Micky P, do your thing.

Aston Villa's manager-in-waiting Steve Bruce could bring in Manchester United reserve team boss Warren Joyce as his No2 at Villa Park.

Villa are close to confirming 55-year-old Bruce as their next manager and the former United legend has the backing of owner Tony Xia and Chief Executive Keith Wyness to bring his own staff after the Championship club's dismal start to the season under Roberto Di Matteo.

Two of Bruce's backroom team from his last club Hull City, Mike Phelan's current assistant Stephen Clemence and goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh, are expected to link up again with their former manager in the Midlands.

Joyce has helped several United youngsters including Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford

But it is the interest in Joyce that is particularly intriguing, the 51-year-old has helped in the development of several high-profile youngsters at United including Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Adnan Januzaj and Robbie Brady since starting work with the cliv's under-21 side in 2010.

Renowned as a man-motivator like Bruce himself, he survived a shake-up in United's youth set-up earlier this year. But with former Class of 92 member Nicky Butt taking an increasing role and reporting to executive Ed Woodward, United may allow Joyce to make the final decision on his future.
    • Middlesbrough's assistant Steve Agnew could be an alternative.

Bruce acknowledged over the weekend his interest in taking over at Villa after an extended summer break following his resignation at Hull in July.

After going through a thorough process, Villa have concluded that no other candidate has the same expertise of winning promotion to the Premier League as Bruce - a feat he has achieved four times, twice with Birmingham City and twice with Hull.

Current Hull City assistant Stephen Clemence could link up again with Bruce at Villa Park

After becoming the first Manchester United captain to lift the Premier League trophy, Bruce has also managed four clubs in the top flight; Birmingham, Wigan, Sunderland and Hull.

Villa think Bruce will be a more forceful character in the dressing-room than the laid-back Di Matteo.

Xia sanctioned £50m spending on new players in the summer following relegation but Villa have won only one of their 12 matches this season.

Would that mean Pennock would have to act as Assistant Manager? A caretaker Assistant to a caretaker manager? We'd have to get a Caretaker U21s manager too.

Wouldnt suprise me if the farce presently going on at City that if Phelan is asked to go as No2 to Bruce he will bale out. Along with the others mentioned it would leave us with zilch. Another fine mess the idiot will have got us into. Who would want the job. No one of any renown.

Certainly, there are a number of contenders surely. Steve may yet see sense and not go there.

We wont go for him, too much of a threat to an inexperienced (caretaker) manager like Phelan.

    Meyler.

he can have Meyler.. wonder if his son will want to go to?

Phelan wouldn't go, Joyce is on a great ticket at Utd, he won't go. Clemente & Walsh? Probably!
Will he take Alex? Doubt it, he's on a contract to the end of his career here.
Meyler, doubt he'd want to drop back down again, didn't he recently sign a new contract?
Elmo, wouldn't play at that level, like last year.
Kuciak, would he sign for SB again? Doubt it.
Abel H, doubt he'd want to drop back down, but all depends on how MP plays him.
Villa splashed a lot of cash in the summer, so probably can't throw any more about.

I'm wondering about Harry. Needs to play, can't get in the team ahead of a makeshift defender when our club captain isnt fit, near the end of his deal, him and Chessie 'dream pairing'....'
