He comes across as the most arrogant man ever to have a role within our great club, I presume he hasn't taken a wage reduction when he is negiotiating players to do so! you are right JWM, we are ****ed well and truly. My own personal highlight in his interview, is the part where he said there is no panic when a player enters his final year of a contract, yet PJ has clearly stated he didn't want to get in the situation of players only having 6 months left! Will the last person out of Portman Road, please turn off the lights! we are doomed!
Sorry but I have found this little Gem on TWTD and I just had to paste it onto here! It's got PTC's fingerprints all over it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think there is plenty of reason to be optimistic. granted, things may seem a little on edge at the moment with a lot of players released, a small squad with few youngsters pushing for a first team place. however, the days of thrusting expensive players into the first team, hoping for promotion are over. The new FFP rules and academy system may have forced the club into this way of thinking but how long could we feasibly go on the way we were? I think we all need to accept that promotion is going to be beyond us for the next 2-3 seasons, however, with the emphasis on bringing in youth and players with potential, does it really matter where we finish? obviously as long as we don't get relegated, and i wont accept more relegation scraps. but if we can bring the experienced players we need to shore up the defence but replenish the squad with young, up and coming players that have been identified by the club as players who will become better over time, then wouldn't it be better to let them progress together over time without the notion that 'were going for promotion' hanging over them? If we finish 15th for the next two seasons but we are watching week in, week out a young side, who play exciting football, a settled eleven with competition for places, then surely that's a good thing? we will reap the rewards in the future. costs will be down through reduced spending, so when we do find ourselves in a position where our team has progressed and this is reflected in a higher league position and we have greater overall attendance = more revenue, then maybe we will be able to add that 1 player that makes the difference in regard to chasing promotion. I agree, that if jewell and co cannot bring in the type of player they've said they wanted and we see the same old same old again next season and we get to Christmas with the season already over and the fear of relegation looming, then maybe it will be time to say thanks but no thanks. this is a big summer for us, not in terms of next season but in regard to giving us the foundations to build success over the next 2-3 seasons. i would suggest we need an experienced goalkeeper and centre back with the possible inclusion of an experienced front man ( i happen to think Gallagher would be a great choice) after that, I hope all the other players are below 25. we all say we want a team of cresswells and cresswell has undoubtedly been our player of the season but how often have we overlooked his defensive naivety because of his youth and enthusiasm? well if we put together a younger more enthusiastic team but with the experience needed to supplement this, then surely we'll forgive naivety in young players that are fighting for the cause? to be honest, only blind faith has made me think we would ever get promotion over the last few seasons. I could look at our squad and know it wasn't good enough but still, somewhere in the back of your mind there's that 10 year old football; fan screaming 'were going up, were the best'. I guess what im trying to say is mid table mediocrity might not be so bad or hard to stomach for the next season or two, if we are watching a young, exciting team develop before our eyes
I really don't think i have hated anybody contacted with ITFC more than this idiot (even the darklord). his attitude smacks of sheer arrogance that he is the most important person at our club, well no Simon Clegg, if anything we the fans are the most important people at this club because we will be here through thick and thin, then its the players, then it Marcus Evans, then possibly the tea lady is in front of you, you prize ****!
Not sure how you feel about it all atm Guru but me and a lot of my mates have already written off next season!
Instead of writing off next season, why not write to Marcus Evans and tell him what everyone thinks of this clueless/arrogant/ignorant/jumped up sad excuse of a useless c**t. Hated the guy since day one and my hatred has only grown, the sooner Clegg goes the better. Also Warky, me thinks you may get a little abuse from ptc and Tractorbhoy!!
Just reading this drivel makes my blood boil! If we finish 15th for the next two seasons but we are watching week in, week out a young side, who play exciting football, a settled eleven with competition for places, then surely that's a good thing? we will reap the rewards in the future. I mean FFS!
I feel, that we could have pep or Jose in charge of team affairs, but with the twat clegg involved in the club we have no hope! I have read somewhere that the contracts we have offered some of our young players is as little as £250 quid a week! for ****s sake its no wonder they are turning them down!
Yeah I heard that as well! Bobby and the Cobbolds will be turning in their graves if they could see the current mess our football club is in! I certainly cant take much more of this ****e! Writing to Evans wont do much good either.
I don't see anything wrong with offering the kids £250 a week... thats a lot more than i earned as a kid, and they will surely have their chance to earn their millions in good time...if they have a good head on their shoulders, and are not driven by the money, then surely a good education is priceless.
stretchy Think about it though, we offer £250 another club others 2 grand, all our youngsters will go and are going elsewhere!!
I never, never thought I would ever, ever say this, but I am truly feeling for you guys. Having been through the Chase years and then the Rodent <biggroggyspitemoticon> years, I find myself actually sympathising with you lot. Just remember though, we were at a far lower ebb than you lot when we plunged into Division 3 and unbelievably we've turned it around. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if you made the play-offs next year or even better. As an outsider looking in I thought you were getting some really good results towards the end of this season, then again I wasn't actually watching the games
Kickitoff I know you have a deep hatred for us so for you to come out with that is a very sporting thing to say!
I am not sure who has less repect for who...us the fans have little or no respect for clegg, but it is also clear from this interview that he has little or no respect for us......what an arrogant twat he is. You can see why he went for keane, neither of them give a stuff about anyone other than themselves..!
Cant believe I am missed so much!! Sorry couldnt add my replies but a mix of manflu and very busy at work over the last week means I havent been on as much as I normally would. We do have to stop chucking money at the problem - money alone doesnt equal success and the new fair play rules do need to be taken into account BUT we should technically be 1 of the safest and strongest clubs in the league. A large stadium, say 17000 fans plus an additional 4-5000 who will turn up if the team is going well. That is good support at this level. We have a good history, not only in footballing terms but in the way we are set up (training facilities not personnal etc) so really there is no reason that we cant compete. I feel that each and every player has a wage ceiling that we should not go above in an attempt to sign/ keep but we should be able to compete at the highest end of this level. Serious questions will need to be asked if we lose out to mediocre teams in this summers transfer windows. The new rules should mean that no club can offer stupid wages which are not sustainable (ala Norris & Pompey) and so we should be able to see very clearly where we are losing out to stupidity (ala Norris) and where we have gone wrong due to our own failings.
