I don't intend for this to come across as anti-Chelsea but it seems he's treated as guilty until proven innocent while players are the opposite. It's not right imho.
Yes,we all saw how JT and Suarez were assumed to be innocent before the investigations had been concluded Get back on the Div 2 board were you belong.
Thank you for that thought provoking input. I'd like to think you are able to see the difference between the footballing authorities seeing someone as innocent until proven not and powerless fans doing so, but presumably not.
In the sense that Clattenburg was effectively suspended until there was a decision whether to pursue a case, I agree. However, Clattenburg, Terry and Suarez are all now perceived as being racist to some level by the majority of the public, because of the original accusation and the media clamour that followed. Whether proven or not, that perception will remain for the rest of their careers.
I disagree Watford. My take on proceedings is different. All I've seen is how despicable Chelsea are despite the fact it wasn't us that complained to the Police and how Mikel/Mata/Ramires should be banned when it's proven Clattenburg is innocent. The Mirror even ran a story on JT concocting events and Metro comparing him to Savile. I've not seen any signs of people accusing Clattenburg of being guilty. The tingling I've got it is "No. A referee wouldn't do that" "Chelsea are just bitter about the loss, sour grapes". Clattenburg has been portrayed as an almost Robin Hood figure whilst Chelsea have been deemed and portrayed as liars with the likes of Warnock, Ferguson, Wenger Bernstein and PGMO all claiming his innocence without even contemplating the possibility he might be guilty and his track record is hardly glistening.
It was in the paper. I tweeted the journo who wrote it and let him know what I thought and as usual he replied and said it was "tongue in cheek"
Did 6angers fans treat JT as innocent until proven guilty when they sang songs about his kids, mum and wife? Fair point about him being 'banned' while still innocent before. But didn't JT lose the England captaincy while innocent before??? I guess the authorities are worried about Clatten reffing black players even though it is very likely that Chelsea's allegations are a (cultural) misunderstanding
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/d...ist-the-club-should-be-relegated-immediately/ Calls today for Chelsea to be immediately relegated over this Clattenburg saga, again highly prejudicial
I don't honestly see how this can be a misunderstanding. It's fairly black and white if you'll excuse the pun or at least seems to be. If they are worried about him refereeing black players then I'd understand though not agree but in that case they should have been worried about Terry and Suarez playing with/against them too.
