Can’t see any other threads for this. WTF? The clubs hosting a class of 2008 thing? The club owned by the Allams. Nick Barmby is going? Am I going senile? Am I missing something?
What I thought when I received it. A celebration of Hull City Tigers since 1904 finally making it to the top flight.
So, 10 years ago we were on the eve of the biggest game in our history, anticipated for 104 long years. Desperate queues for tickets done and travel preparations made, the whole City behind us like NEVER before, confidence in Phil Brown & Brian Horton, Barmby & Deano, Turner & Ashbee, palpable excitement, our time had finally come, the confidence generated by Paul Duffen’s PR compared to the destruction of Ehab Allam, do it for all past City fans who never saw the day, tomorrow we simply can’t lose, the best trip we’ve ever been on, last one out turn off the lights….
I'd be amazed if Barmby was there. The press release says: "some of the legends that brought that incredible day to life will be back in Hull on Thursday night to relive that historic achievement." If Barmby or Ash are there, that will represent a big volte-face from them with regards to their attitude towards the club. As far as I'm aware, the only place you'll be able to read about the day from everyone who was on the pitch in a City shirt (along with Phil Brown, Brian Horton, Paul Duffen, Alan Wiley, Gary Johnson, and numerous backroom staff, fans and legends) is in a forthcoming book by some nob head who sometimes posts on here.
All I hope is that whoever attends from the Class of 2008 is that they charge the Allam's a HUGE appearance fee. I know that we've all been aware of it for a while, but to hear someone of the ilk of Gareth Roberts on RH last night say that he'd stopped attending due to the fact that ex-players and youth players have to buy a ticket, along with the poisonous feel around the KCOM, it really hammered it home how little the Allam's have learned whilst being involved in football.
I naively thought at the final whistle "£60 million.....no more money problems ever again. What a relief." How wrong I was....
I'm pretty certain you'll just get his recollections of the play-off final. Fair play to the HDM if they got anything more than the playing side of things.
BBC Humberside Sport @HumbersideSport We can now confirm that our Wembley 2008 10th Anniversary #Sportstalk with @bbcburnsy & @mikewhitesport will be live from the KCom Stadium ahead of the special @HullCity event that will feature a number of former players & the management team from that day. #hcafc
Very short notice wasn't it , I take it they aren't selling tickets to fans and only the competition winner gets to go?
