    Clarky Takes Fergie To Birmingham.

A second Newcastle squad player has made a loan move to the Championship this week, with Birmingham City completing a deal for Shane Ferguson.

The 21 year-old Northern Ireland international has signed a month-long deal and City manager Lee Clark will have him in his squad for a trip to Hull City on Saturday.

That short-term switch could see Shane appear in six second tier fixtures including games against promotion chasing Crystal Palace and a smoggies side currently featuring fellow Newcastle reserve Sammy Ameobi.

Fergie links up with ex-SJP colleague Peter Lovenkrands at St.Andrews, along with fellow former Magpies Stephen Carr, Steven Caldwell and Darren Ambrose.

Aside from Sammy and Shane, a further six Magpies are now on loan across the UK: Curtis Good (Bradford City), Brad Inman (Crewe Alex), Michael Richardson (Gillingham), Paul Dummett and Conor Newton (both St.Mirren) and Mehdi Abeid (St.Johnstone).

That figure is set to increase, with possible loan deals for James Tavernier, Nile Ranger and Dan Gosling.

Much better for all of them to be playing first team football than sitting on the bench.

Good stuff. Ferguson is a top prospect, just needs time to develop. Pace and crossing ability.

Much better to be playing first team football in front of decent crowds instead of being stuck in the reserves playing to empty houses or sitting on the bench.

Players we've got out on loan getting the chance to show what they've got are :

    31 Shane Ferguson. Birmingham C.

    33 Curtis Good. Bradford City

    36 Paul Dummett. St.Mirren

    Bradden Inman. Crewe Alex

    Mehdi Abeid. St. Johnstone

    Conor Newton. St.Mirren

Seem to remember that # 49 Adam Campbell was out on loan somewhere too, but can't remember where he went to, or if indeed he did go out on loan.
