Taken from the post..... BRISTOL Rovers boss Darrell Clarke says wage demands from players who live in "cloud cuckoo land" are hindering his summer recruitment drive. Clarke said: "I was hoping to have the majority of my squad in place before the training camp, but we don't live in a perfect world. I won't make panic signings just to keep everybody happy. If I miss out on one of my targets I move on to the next one. It is about being patient and I'm sure there will be a lot of managers who are feeling exactly the same. We've had to cut our cloth accordingly, but I am still confident of building a promotion-pushing squad and if that takes a bit of time then so be it. The problem is that some players live in cloud cuckoo land and it takes a number of weeks for the wage demands to come down to a sensible level and that is where we are at. We still have a good month or so to go before the start of the season and we are in a situation now where players will start panicking about their futures. Other players are still on trial at League clubs and if they can't earn deals, there will be a filter-down effect. I also have options on one or two loans for players of good calibre looking ahead to the early part of the season, but we'll see what movements come along before then."
