Sunderland AFC winger Jack Clarke is set for a spell on the sidelines. The 23-year-old sustained an ankle ligament injury during the Club’s trip to Birmingham City and he subsequently missed last weekend’s fixture against Swansea City. Further assessments of the injury have now been completed, with the winger expected to be out of action for up to six weeks. The Club’s leading scorer with 15 goals and four assists, Clarke will now undergo a period of rehabilitation before an anticipated return to training in April. Jack Clarke - SAFC FFS
Following further assessments, Jack Clarke is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks. Speedy recovery, Clarkey!
Could turn out to be a blessing in disguise ... ... and I can't see a way it can be used as another reason to attack the club. Or will someone claim he's already agreed a deal elsewhere so can't play.
Well, if there was any doubt that the season is over, that should remove it. At least we have enough to stay up. Big summer ahead
Already seen a ‘why did we let Jewi go’ comment, he’s been dragged off at half time twice at his new club….
No attack from me. We have had rotten luck with injuries again this season. Not many clubs would cope missing players of the quality and influence of Huggins, Alese, Cirkin, Evans, Embo, Clarke & Roberts.
If he's only returning to training in April we might've seen the last of Clarke in a Sunderland shirt.
What I don't understand (unless he had injures) is how little he played for the u21s. He should be playing as much football as possible to get him up to speed for the 1st team. The loan to Greece is an utterly bizarre one, especially when he's still trying to learn English and adapt to loving over here...
Dreadful luck with injuries. All seem to be players with that little bit of experience. Next few weeks are going to be difficult. No doubt there will be a few lining up to have a go at KLD and Speakman. But we still have a talented group of young lads and they need our support. Big summer coming up
Bugger that he is missing, but considering the kicks and sly digs he gets most games it's a miracle he has played so long injury free. A chance for one of the others to impress
Yeah. Strange he was minimum couple of weeks and still getting assessed. But Dodds said these ciams were sensationalised. Clearly they were not, even conservative. Class player and will leave in the summer. Have to hope one of the other lads steps up. That said, given our transfer record in last few windows and the zero impact that 15 out of 18 have made thus far, ill probably be waiting a while.
Gutted 6 weeks missing in his last season. I always got the impression he enjoyed it at safc and was quite happy but there is no way he can spend another season at this level he is ready to step up.
What a blow. Gutted the way the season is playing out. Reckon we might have seen the last of him in our shirt. Be a risk to play him last couple of games if he has a chance of a big money move. Unless of course we are still in with a shout, which without Clarke is even more unlikely. Double whammy.
