Sometimes it's just best to keep quiet about some issues, Professional Footballers' Association chairman Clarke Carlisle does not believe Ashley Young is a diver . He states the following when talking about Ashley Young:- "He is quick and slight so it doesn't take much contact to make him go over." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17728281 I realise the PFA are there for their members but in this case Mr Carlisle has made a total idiot of himself.
It is time these divers are called what they are - CHEATS!! Can't believe how diving is actually being defended. Diving is a cowardly act and it is cheating, nothing else. I personally ****ing hate diving and rolling about, it needs to be driven from the game.
Is football the only game where at the slightest touch you fall over. I can't think of another sport where "the athlete" is willing to show they have been hurt by an opposing player! Can you imagine if it happened in boxing, now that would be entertaining! It's about time football became a mans game again.
I think Pierluigi Colina got it right when he said that diving should be dealt with by video trial AFTER the game, whether the referee made a decision or not. He also proposed very heavy bans for each perpetrator. I like the idea of very heavy bans. particularly if they use an escalator - e.g. 4 game ban for 1st offence, 8 game ban the second time, then 12, 16 etc., and, of course, make sure that the escalator runs throughout their career - none of your 'start again' nonsense every season. Can't ever see any clubs sanction this, as most of them have at least one player with a penchant for simulation. But hey!, we can hope.
I'll never forget a dive by Judas Kewell, think it was against Derby he took off from 5 yards outside the area, perfect execution.
