I expected better of Clarke Carlisle. He's gone WAY WAY down in my estimation after recent events....!!!

Clarke Carlisle has admitted giving Bristol City player Wade Elliott homophobic abuse.
The ex-PFA chief taunted Elliott, who is former Burnley player, during their time together at Turf Moor between 2007 and 2011, even though he was not gay.
Carlisle has since apologised to Elliott. He told GQ magazine: "My stomach is turning as I say it, but homophobic abuse, because he is small and people thought he looked a bit effeminate maybe.
"I have the PFA to thank for making me see how wrong that was. [Football] is also a very homoerotic environment…everyone slapping backsides.

"But when homophobic abuse is targeted at one individual, it is horrendous...calling him gay when he wasn't. My stomach is really churning now."

The 35-year-old also admitted a female physio was "objectified" while he was with the Clarets.
He added: "Not by everyone, but she was, inappropriately, at times, definitely."
Carlisle is due in court for sentencing on Thursday after pleading guilty to a drink-driving offence.
The former Premier League defender, who tried to commit suicide two days after he was arrested, crashed his Mercedes into a lorry on December 20 last year.
He also admitted a charge of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence on the same

And if Wade had responded with an expletive about his skin colour we would never have heard the end of it!!

Indeed. I'd always thought that Carlisle was a level headed and articulate individual who in his role at the FA would be above that sort of nonsense.

    It just goes to show.
